Don't forget X-Men: Days of Future Past for best summer movies +Jeff Cannata! Or is that pre-summer? "Pre-summer," otherwise known as spring. :P

I agree with everything you said about the new movies. :)

+Tracie Anslow The "based on true events" text was taken verbatim from the film, which also wasn't true. I believe it was the first (only?) major film to just flat-out lie about it just for dramatic effect. I remember the mayor of Fargo was pissed about it when the movie came out. Ha.

Some of the footage cuts you described at the beginning of the movie sound like what Oliver Stone did in "Natural Born Killers".

To be honest I wonder more if kids walk out of the movies a  converted misogynist. The films are so creepily sexist (and the third borderline racist) that I can't even consider them anything to do with the cartoons I loved as a kid. I don't know how any fans of the original toys back in the day can be happy with these films. I accept that some are, some of my friends like them on the basis that you just 'switch off your brain and enjoy it'. That's fine, I can happily do that with the most mind numbing of action films, but this movie is asking you to go one further and pinch the secretaries ass while she puts the coffee on your desk in the 50's. I hope Michael Bay will piss off and let someone drag this franchise back out of it's seedy back alley abode.

The women are quite literally decoration, the first shot you see of them in two of the movies is their ass. The third film winks at you and says "don't worry, I know the nice ass left after the last movie because I'm such a prick, but I've picked some better, more obedient ass. Here, have a close up". They've effectively made a lads mag from a kids toy and it just feels wrong.

The best movie is still the original cartoon, it might be a bit slow at times but it at least had some fucking dignity.
