My daughter created these easy loomed arm sleeves for Halloween.
My daughter makes short films. She also loves Halloween. So, she usually has some costume project in the works. She needed furry arms, so we hit the craft store for inspiration. We came away with a small 24–peg loom and two skeins of Yarn Bee Haute Fur in the color Wolverine.

A dollar store sketch pad plus cardstock strips bound for the trash plus a few hours equals a covered sketchbook for 50 cents. Did I mention I cut the sketch pad in half?
Instead of wrapping gifts, I did what I always do this time of year: I started a new project. I couldn't help myself. I had already planned to make my daughter a sketchbook using a 40–page sketch pad from Dollar Tree. $1 for a 9x12 sketchbook ! If you cut the pages in half, ...

When I was a kid I used to love making little books and stuff to give to my friends, as a teenager right now I mostly draw and I was looking for a small sketchbook to start an art journal, unfortunately I could not find one, but I came across your blog and You totally inspired me to make this! And the best part is that I have all the materials I need right at home!

The real Suzy models playsilks. So easy-peasy to dye with plain old food coloring (and fast too!).
This Christmas, I'm giving my nieces and nephew princess dresses. SC Princess. Superhero capes. SC Cape. Ponds with fish… SC Fish in the pond. and fire?!? SC Fire dog. Actually, I made them play silks. They're large squares of silk dyed in bright colors that help kids use their imaginations.

It's OK to scare kids on Halloween as long as it's educational too.

This is the one where I realize I've been art journaling all along.
I've never been able to keep a daily diary. It's too much pressure to keep up with a daily soul-pouring. And then when I miss a day? Oh, the guilt. Instead, I keep travel journals, health notebooks, craft journals, sermon notes, and notebooks of knowledge. These books are a much better ...

Every city has some history, even Amarillo. I found some awesome signs on Sixth Street and made a poster for Amarillo.
Last week, before the cold front hit, my husband took me down to Sixth Street in Amarillo for a photography date. Sixth Street is part of old Route 66, and the shops cater to antique hunters, hipsters, and bikers. It's really a fun area in which to spend an afternoon.

Buttery toffee popcorn balls in under 30 minutes? I'm there!
We love popcorn balls, but I despise the candy thermometer. It's intimidating. One second too long and you've moved irreparably from soft ball stage to hard crack. I let the microwave handle my molten sugar. Toffee Popcorn Balls. I use a deliciously easy microwave toffee recipe from ...

My daughter did a big sculpture today and we just started the 3D print job. Just over 5 hours for a 4.3 inch long raptor head mounted on a shield. Thankfully it's mostly a fire and forget operation.

Challenging myself to use one craft book a week
Introduction
http://suzycucumber.blogspot.com/

I have more than 200 craft books and it's time to use them! Each week I'll pick a new book and do at least one project from it. 2012 is the Year of the Craft!
