What do you think? Is Uber an example of a company using a disruptive innovation to enter an existing marketplace and displace incumbents? https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/what-disruption-anyway-ted-shelton

Five Years May Be Too Long
If you were an architect designing a brand new commercial building in downtown Los Angeles, the city building code would require that you include in your plans one parking place for every 250 s.f. of floor space. An exception might allow you to reduce this ...

Great piece and perspective, +Ted Shelton .

Recently, here in Vancouver, B.C., we collectively voted down an initiate that would have greatly increased investment in mass transit infrastructure. My initial reaction (I voted yes) was, "How could we be so short-sighted!!"
But when I pulled back, and looked at things from a longer window, I became more convinced that not spending that money on infrastructure was a good thing, given that it will likely be made redundant by the radical changes in the auto-transportation industry.

It's getting hard to think of many industries that do not have to seriously rethink their investment frameworks for infrastructure, be it soft or hard, human or otherwise.

Not that Jack Dorsey needs any more advice than he is probably already getting, but here is what I'd focus on if my job was to fix Twitter:

Sustainable Competitive Advantage
My contention is that the true object of strategy is to sustain value creation, which demands a capacity to relentlessly create and capture new value. The difficulty with setting a given market position or competitive advantage as your strategy’s goal is th...
