Karl,

Thanks for sharing this. We are living in a time when events like this are no longer shocking. As you noted, the media is very quick to move on, and we have largely accepted events like this as the new normal.

But throughout the country, when news broke of this incident, the first reaction was "that's Karl Fisch's school." When we connect to the people affected by tragedy, it makes the whole surreal experience much more real for all of us.

Of course, I'm glad that you're safe, and, if school shootings have to happen, I guess I'm glad when you're able to use words like "lucky" throughout your narrative. But mostly, thank you for sharing this terrifying, raw account of the day from your perspective. It brings up a lot of good points about school safety, and I'm sure it will inform changes in procedures to better protect out students.

Thank you for everything you do, both in the classroom and in the wider education community.

Moodle may have jumped the shark. A year later, Moodle 2 is still a lot buggier than I expected.

Discussing whether grammar, spelling, and punctuation are hard and fast rules or just commonly accepted standards for communication.

It there away to configure my stream so it doesn't include all of my circles? I have people that I like to keep in circles, but they're just a little too... verbose for me. They're drowning everyone else out.
