My First Decent Tasker App!

Hey everyone I've been messing around with Tasker over the summer to make apps because I'm away from my computer. So I made a simple flashlight app just to test out Tasker, but that's not the app I'm taking about I made a calculator app the can calculate the volume and surface area of a rectangular prism, it would mean a lot if you were to check it out and right a review. Here's the link:

Thanks in advanced to anyone who checks it out!

ICONSHOWCASE FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT POST

tl;dr:
IconShowcase is basically finished, it will be released in mid-end of February, and has a lot of cool features that are mentioned in this post. If you don't know what IconShowcase is, it is a full-of-features, free and open source, material design based dashboard for icon packs. Additional info is found in the post.
+1 and reshare this post so more people can know about it. Thanks in advance.

Hi everybody...

Some of you may already know some things about IconShowcase, but I will post this info like if any of you knew.

IconShowcase (IS from now on) is a full-of-features, free and open source, material design based dashboard for icon packs.

IS is a project that I started on July after PaperBoard was released. With PaperBoard I had some issues of stress and dealing with people, and because of that I planned on creating this new dashboard that would be paid, so it would have more exclusive users, and I wouldn't be stressing so much. Also, I planned to make it paid, because it was taking most of my free time and I needed a way to earn some money to pay part of my University studies.

I had to stop with its development in September because of University. Then in December, when I was on vacation, I restarted and continued working on it.

All this time I have been learning some things, improving some others, listening to requests, suggestions, seeing concepts and implementing them and all that stuff, and I can finally say that the app is finished.

Also, all this time, I have been dealing with the question of making it paid or free, or cheap, or a little expensive, or free but private, etc. But at the end, thanks to the big help of +Sherry Sabatine  , I'm able to make it completely free and open source.

I will try to continue working on it and improving it during the next days, months, years, etc. as long as I have free time. I am just starting with development and I'm sure my app has a lot of stuff to be fixed and improved. I will also try to provide support to the people who use it, as much as possible, but would like to make people who use it understand that I'm a person too, and that is annoying to see people only complain and complain about stuff, or requesting stuff, but really recognizing the effort already put in such work. I will try to be patient though.

Well, back to the actual topic...

Let's mention the main features:

- App focused in users, so that it increases the app usage, instead of just the icons.

- Home section:
A simple section that will show the user's device wallpaper in toolbar, with a row of icons, as a real preview of how icons may look in the device. Designers (people who create the icon pack and use the dashboard), will be able to provide a list of other pictures to show there, and enable this feature. When enabled, the user will be able to choose between show the wallpaper there, or the pictures provided by icon pack designer. When disabled, only pictures provided by designer, will be shown.
It also shows a little information about the icon pack, and a "button" for users to check designer's other apps.

- Icon section:
Icon section is organized in tabs. You can search for an specific icon in every tab. And you can see a preview of the icon by just pressing it. This section features a fast scroller to quickly slide through the list.

- Wallpapers section:
In this section, when simple tapping a picture, it will open the fullscreen viewer, and when long-pressing it, the wallpaper will be applied directly. Designers will be able to setup the app to use Palette API, or not, as well as one of six swatches (vibrant, vibrant light, vibrant dark, muted, muted light, muted dark). Users will be able to customize the columns number in this section. And there's a refresh button to quickly update the wallpapers.
Wallpapers are cached in a smart way, so they will load faster and faster every time you enter again to such section.

- Wallpaper viewer:
It shows the wallpaper in full screen. The picture and be zoomed in or out, as well as moved through the "window". Bottom bar shows the wallpaper name and three icons: one to save the wallpaper to the device, other to apply the wallpaper (apply directly, or crop it) and an icon to show additional wallpaper info  (author, dimensions, copyright).

When applying a wallpaper, it will be resized to fit the device screen.

- Requests section:
A smart request tool has been created taking PkRequestManager library as base. This tool loads the apps to request faster and properly (no more duplicates).
The tool will take about 1 second to read every 100 lines of designers appfilter.xml ... 1000 lines = 10 seconds ... but this time is relative I have seen the tool loading the apps in 3 seconds, with an appfilter of 1000+ lines... I can't tell you an exact time but is really fast.
Additionally, this list won't be reloaded every time you enter to this section, which makes it appear really fast or even make it always ready.
When generating the files to send via email, it will generate: appfilter.xml , theme_resources.xml, and appmap.xml as well as app icons in png format.
which are the most required xmls for designers to provide support to as many launchers as possible, and that are also the hardest to create.

- Apply section:
This section lists 28 launchers or apps where the icon pack can be applied. It sorts them by installed and alphabetical order. It includes "Google Now", just for the people who don't know that Google Now doesn't support icon packs, to see a dialog explaining them.

- FAQs section:
This section includes a lot of frequently asked questions by users and their answers.

- Zooper section:
This section provides buttons and cards to install Zooper Pro, Media Utilities, to explain how to setup Media Utilities, and to fix missing fonts or iconsets.
This section can be easily disabled.

- About the app or Credits section:
This sections shows all the info related with IconShowcase but mainly the info of the icon pack designer. I have made 2 layouts or section styles, so you can use the one you like the most.

- Settings:
App includes option to change the app theme (light, dark, or auto), to color the navigation bar (lollipop+), to clear the app cache, to change where to download the wallpapers, and to hide the app icon from launchers.

Additional stuff:
- Analog clock widget.
- Widget/Shortcut to open the app. (In case users hide the icon).
- Tablet layouts.
- Full Marshmallow support.
- App works as a gallery so you can pick icons and wallpapers from different apps.

About additional customization, besides the normal colors, texts, icons, and other customizations:
- Customizable navigation drawer header. With 3 styles: normal, mini, or without header.
- Secondary drawer items can be shown with icons.
- There are two changelog styles: text and icons.

And finally, dashboard main strings/texts will be available in 8 languages. More to come with time.

These are all the features IconShowcase have, and everything it has to offer. I may have missed some things though. I will try to explain everything in a tutorial.

It may not be the best coded app, or the best designed, but I'm sure it offers some pretty good stuff and it will be improved with time.

If you have more questions or something to say about IS, please feel free to leave them in comments.

Release ETA

I expect to release the app in mid-end of february. The app is almost finished, but I still need to create a tutorial which I'm starting to work on soon, and it may take some time because I want to explain things as much as possible and as clear as possible.
It may be released earlier, but won't promise it.
