We were to decide where to go after visiting Multonomah falls. We saw Beacon is a nearby destination. The route between Multonomah and Beacon state park is very scenic. When you travel along the columbia river, you see that the distant mountains covered with green trees. I always wanted to go near them. This trip made it possible. There is a bridge that helps us cross the river. While on the bridge, you get a spectacular view of the columbia river on either sides. As you approach the beacon park, your altitude increases and the view of columbia river also increases. There is a 10$ parking fee which we need pay with cash. The mountain top is 850 feet high. As for the safety, there are barricades towards the top of mountain. You can stop at few places on your way to mountain top, to get beautiful pictures. At the mountain top, it was not a flat surface as we expected. The steep valley, breathtaking trees, stones, steel rails make this a unique hike.

Perfect for a fun like day hike. Hiking to the top and back down only takes about an hour, or less even. Great views from the top though, and on the way up! It's a lot of uphill with switchbacks so be prepared for that!

Well we climbed up beacon rock and really enjoyed the hike. We also took the trail down to Ridell lake but didn't find that so good. Ended up eating lunch sitting on some tree trunk chunks sitting by the side of the trail. My mom ate the wild blackberries growing along the trail. Thinking about going back to try and tackle mt Hamilton. $10 for the day pass seems steep. Will need to plan to get the annual pass next time we go to a Washington state park.

This is a great, big park and is so much more than Beacon Rock. They have a trail system of a combination of huge, wide, maintained trails and normalmsized trails in the hills above, leading up to a hill overlooking the river. The trails are usually pretty quiet, even on the weekends. 5 stars all the way.

Took our young daughter up the rock. Was a nice day, although windy...when isn't it there? This is always a pleasant, short hike. Great for a quick get-away. View is great! Make sure you have or get a Discover Pass!

This is a wonderful, short, quick hike. The views are fantastic, and it's a unique experience to wind your way up such a steep thing on foot. Weather can really add drama to the walk; I think going in early spring or late fall is the best.
