Last weekend I managed to order a Moto 360 from +Best Buy
. Today was the +UPS
delivery which I happened to miss. Knowing I would not be able to receive the package on the next two delivery attempts I thought no problem, I'll just call and have the package held at will call. Much to my surprise, this was not allowed.
Turns out Best Buy restricts delivery to just at home with a signature. Their suggestion was to contact the shipper and have them request the exception so I could pick it up. Sure enough contacting Best Buy led nowhere. The Best Buy rep tried the best she could to help but ultimately told me that there was no way for her to remove the restriction. I took it up the chain of command but once again was told the same thing.
So Best Buy please explain to me how you ship to customers but don't give them the option to pick up from UPS. With all of the online shopping I've done this is the first time I've encountered this situation. This convenience is helpful for those of us who know we will miss more deliveries. From all of my experiences of missing packages and retrieving them from will call I can say that UPS does a good job of verifying identity and will refuse those that can't provide the required documentation.
This situation has negatively impacted how I look at Best Buy. A simple exception to the rule would have gone a long way or an option other than "you'll have to return it" would have been better. I know I'm just one customer but going forward I will not be looking at Best Buy for my shopping needs.
