The shear volume of information and mind-expanding perspective in this presentation is absolutely amazing.

This is a must watch...

Arduino Cubesat
Arduino based Cubsat

This is incredibly fascinating, and a way for you to interact with space. The idea of CubSats are to make micro satellites using low cost and accessible components. They are launched with a spring loaded cannon from the space station.

In this great little hackspace interview "Jonathan Oxer from Freetronics talks about the Ardusat project and shows his Arduino based cluster board for running Arduino sketches in space at the Melbourne Connected Community Hackerspace".

He shows the components that go into this Ardusat, including a custom board that multiplexes a series of Arduino like modules.

The idea is that once in space you can run your own sketches on these boards and make contact with a the CubeSat.

He gives some fascinating insight into dealing with temperature fluctuation in a vacuum, and explains a simple concept for orienting the CubeSat using three magnetorquers that react against the Earth's magnetic field.

I am torn between HD Tuners...

1. SiliconDust HDHomeRun PRIME (http://amzn.to/1RD857j)
2. Ceton InfiniTV 6 ETH (http://amzn.to/1jkStKy)
3. Ceton InfiniTV 6 PCIe (http://amzn.to/1G207Ua)

I am inclined to go with # 1 because of the poor reviews on the Ceton devices.

However, I cannot help but think that the users in those reviews are novice at PC hadware/software.

Hmmm...

That was the gist I was getting from the reviews, not very encouraging.. The 6 tuners would have been nice, but for the same price, one could simply purchase 2 SiliconDust devices..

We have spectacular images from today's launch with NASA astronaut Scott Kelly and Russian cosmonauts Mikhail Kornienko and Gennady Padalka to the International Space Station. Kelly and Kornienko will begin a one-year mission in space, testing the limits of human research, space exploration and the human spirit.
