Me personally, I haven't had anything but good interactions with Rene Bates. Here is their default disclaimer: "AS-IS; Current condition UNKNOWN. This item is used and may contain defects that are not immediately detectable. Text description given is meant to be used as a guide only. You are responsible for inspecting item before bidding. All information provided is believed to be correct but no warranty as such is either intended or implied. All items are sold AS IS - WHERE IS AND WITH ALL FAULTS AND DEFECTS THEREIN." So it is true that you could possibly obtain items that are not in working condition, that's pretty much true with any auction, but you have the options to inspect the lots before bidding. Also be aware that there are no shipping options offered by Rene Bates or the companies they are auctioning for. You will have to acquire the items yourself withing a certain time limit during a said time frame during the week. This time frame is usually Monday - Friday of the following week, 8 am to 3 pm largely due to the fact that most of their auctions tend to be from school districts. There is a $100 REFUNDABLE bidders fee in order to post bids on their site. This is to weed out the serious bidders only. Rene Bates gives you the option to use your bid deposit towards the purchase of a lot, or to refund the entire $100 when you are no longer interested in bidding with them. You are eligible to bid as long as Rene Bates holds your bid deposit. Rene Bates occasionally holds Live Auctions at various locations, check their site for more info. Also they use staggered ending times and bid extensions. This means the entire auction does not close at once, but yet by each independent lot at a time. Auction is over after the last lot has been closed. Extended bidding happens when someone bids on am item within the last few minutes; the current lot will be extended five minutes each time until the bid levels out. Hope some of this information was useful.

Won and paid some auctions from a school listed on Rene' Bates but none of them are working. They listed they don't know the condition of the items but when we pick up the items, we learned that they knew they are broken. Complaint to the renebates but they won't help. renebates are trying to protect their the sellers not the buyers as it's the seller who pay fee to them.
