"Dear humble reader, filled with holiday glee—
Perhaps wearing a sweater near your Christmas Tree.

Christmas is upon us. Can you feel it in the air?
Maybe not in Houston, but it’s definitely there.

You’ve heard of sweet Rudolph, with his nose glowing red,
And of Frosty the Snowman, magic cap on his head.

But there’s one Christmas story that often is missed:
It’s a jolly old tale about Texas Fence."

After a storm, you may start getting bids from fly-by-night fence contractors that are unreliable or could be trying to scam you.

Here are a few ways you can protect yourself:
- Ask for local references.
- Ask if they have a local office (look out for P.O. boxes and hotel addresses).
- DO NOT go with someone who demands upfront cash.

You may have noticed that not every wood fence is the same. Some wood fences include features that make them more private. Some have added elements that enhance their structural integrity. And others have flourishes that make them look quaint in their surroundings.

To help you get a better understanding of the most popular wood fence add-ons and the purpose they serve, Texas Fence presents our latest Learning Post article, 6 Wood Fence Add-ons & Why You May Want to Add Them to Your Fence.

Are HOA and POA regulations making your fence buying process more complicated? When getting a new fence, HOAs and POAs can often be the bearer of bad news. Local regulations, state bylaws, and developmental standards are all enforced by an organization whether it’s your neighborhood's HOA, POA, or a city council.

Although some of these regulations may prevent you from having the exact fence you want, these laws and standards are in place for specific reasons from neighborhood safety to nature preservation. Before planning for a new fence, it’s always a good idea to understand the standards and laws that exist in your area. To help guide you, we put together a list of the top 5 fencing rules and legislations enforced in Houston and The Greater Houston Area.
