I'll be honest with you and say I'm never really sure whether publishing posts on Linkedin or my own blog, Reflect & Lead, is the best thing. Linkedin has its obvious advantages but then again so does having my own blog. Facebook is clearly the giant of the social media world but I really wonder what it offers (other than the opportunity for me to hand it regular sums of money for advertising) when it comes to me as a coach.

I guess it's just a case of covering all the obvious social media outlets (I find Twitter the easiest to use and most interactive) in the vague hope that people find what I post useful and of interest - and that these people may one day become contacts and possibly clients.

How long should a coaching session be?

So many variables at play and the practicalities of planning in time ahead of schedule. Sometimes a shorter or longer introductory session might be appropriate and having an agreement between client and coach that each session takes as long is required. Lots of ways of achieving coaching success but scheduling sessions around busy life and work commitments takes some negotiation and skill.

You might know what performance level you want to get to, it may be world class, but you have to start somewhere and you have to start by knowing what level you're currently at.

Not what I'd normally put up here but am so proud of my son Kieran and all his efforts at archery. He is part of TeamGB and has competed internationally for 6 years. His big aim this year is to make it to the #Rio2016 Olympics. All athletes need as much support as they can get so that they can focus on the training and coaching they need to achieve success - Kieran is no different.

This image from Insights has certainly sparked some attention on Linkedin. Not so much about the content but about the background colours, blue for extrovert and pink for introvert

What do you think?

New #coaching  clients find it difficult to work out how and if their coaching is working for them. The trick is to figure out whether your coach is working for you or for themselves

If you haven't worked with a coach before the prospect of doing so might seem daunting. It needn't be so. Professional coaches will guide you through the process, it's part of what they should do.
