"However, nobody thought to announce [the time change] to all the automated clocks built into millions of laptops and phones across the country, because they all went forward with the rest of the timezone on Sunday anyway."

For those using PolyClock, the change was in place.

And seriously, it's not that "nobody thought to announce" it to the OS vendors. It's that the Turkish government made this decree just a couple of weeks in advance, which isn't enough time to get operating systems patched, tested, and deployed. Don't blame the vendors.

An early preview of a new watch face. Soon to be added to the PolyClock Watch Face collection for Android Wear.

Would anyone be interested in a widget designed along these lines for use on their phone?

Thought-provoking argument for doing away with time zones - completely.

And indirectly, for doing away with our app, I suppose! :^(

Perhaps we're lucky that we only got one complaint about supporting Crimea's time change in v6.4.

Version 6.4 is now rolling out, including the timezone change for Crimea plus a few minor enhancements and bug fixes. Let us know if you find any issues with it!

Another shot of a PolyClock widget displaying on Google Glass. This was taken in a hotel lobby; what really amuses me is that two of the hotel's clocks are wrong.

If anyone here is using Glass or a Sony SmartWatch, you're invited to join the Wearable Widgets beta. Leave a comment or drop us a line and we'll hook you up.

I used to have a travel alarm clock that looked just like this. From the pre-smartphone era, of course.
