What is a public holiday?

This is a holiday or vacation which is set up by the national authorities of states or through worldwide agreements and is thus advised to be a non-working day.

Public holidays are generally intended for celebrations, such as the celebration of an important happening like Uganda’s Martyrs’ Day, Uganda’s National Heroes’ Day, worldwide recognition of certain groups like the International Labour Day meant for workers, International Women’s Day (celebrated across the world to pay honour to the great women of the society) or devout commemorations like Christmas or Eid al-Adha or Eid Al-Fitr (End Of Ramadan) and others like Boxing Day which is celebrated after Christmas.

Uganda wildlife authority stops low season gorilla permits as Rwanda doubles the price of their gorilla permits from USD750.00 to USD1500.00. Following an increase in price of gorilla permits for Volcanoes National Park making Rwanda the most expensive gorilla trekking destination, Uganda has remained firm by not following suite but to maintain its high season gorilla permit rate of USD600.00 for all months. The decision for Uganda wildlife authority to stop low season gorilla permits is to make sure that while the country remains affordable, it should not be looked at as a cheap destination for gorilla trekking yet the experience obtained in Uganda and Rwanda is almost the same.

Trekking to the Dian Fossey Tomb is one of the most sought after safari activities carried out while visiting Volcanoes national park for a gorilla trip.
Dian was known by locals as Nyirmachabelli, or Nyiramacibiri, that was directly translated as “the woman who lives alone on the mountain’. Her work went on well and she soon found favor and friendship with the mountain gorillas where she befriended a silver back known as digit. The death of Digit in 1978 was a big blow in Dian’s heart after digit was short as he was trying to protect a baby gorilla known as Kweli from poachers.

At an average height of around 5 m (16-18 ft.), the giraffe is the tallest land animal in the world.
Characterized by its long legs, long neck, and distinctive spotted pattern, many people first believed the giraffe was a cross between a leopard and a camel, which is reflected in its scientific name, Giraffa camelopardalis.
