I documented a recent experience installing 64-bit Linux on a laptop with a 32-bit UEFI. It was more of an adventure than I expected.

Here is the second post in the assistive tech series for people with dysgraphia. I review several options to help people write mathematical expressions without using pencil and paper as well as some tools for helping do homework and documenting that work when mathematics is needed.

In the process of creating the post, I updated my Pelican configuration to be able to render math equations (the 'render_math' plugin) and better take advantage of Bootstrap for styling tables and other feature on the page (the 'bootstrapify' plugin). I'm still liking Pelican as well as using ReText (https://github.com/retext-project/retext) for editing Markdown (http://www.graham.org/markdown.html).

I just wrote up a few notes on Markdown to collect a few references on learning Markdown and also document a few of the tools I have been using. While Markdown may not be as powerful as other markup languages, it is definitely a very productive way to generate HTML for web pages using tools like Pelican and Ghost.

I wrote a quick post on Musescore, a open-source and powerful music scoring tool I have used for a few years now. It works on Windows, Mac, Linux, and other systems and there are viewers for iOS and Android.

Here's an excellent podcast interview with Purism's Todd Weaver that provides a lot of detail on what goes into building a laptop and phone that gives users as much control as possible over the software that they use on their hardware. It has a lot of excellent technical detail and is the first in-depth interview I've heard with Todd Weaver.

Recently I listened to an excellent speech given by Lynn G. Robbins, which he calls "Be 100 Percent Responsible". I can't say that I have heard such a powerful talk recently on the importance of accepting both responsibility and agency as well as both justice and mercy. There are some excellent stories, examples, and wisdom in the talk.

Recommended.
