Visiting Tioman Island in Malaysia last month was a lasting experience. As part of my visit, I learned more about a turtle's life in this part of the world at the Juara Turtle Project with VegVoyages. While it's sad to hear the stories of rescued turtles, it's a way to understand what we can all do to help save turtle populations here and around the world. #vegan #vegvoyages #travel #tiomanisland #malaysia #turtles #ocean #animals #marinelife

My time in Malaysia was incredible. Now, it's time to start deciphering my notes and bring those moments out on the vegan road back to life. Staying in Kuala Lumpur (or KL) a couple of days before my tour proved to be a wise plan. This meant I could take the train out to Batu Caves with a few of my vegan travel friends. Here are my thoughts from the day and some extra tips to help you pave your own journey there. #vegan #travel #batucaves #traintravel #kualalumpur #malaysia #sightseeing

It's hard to imagine, but even vegan travellers feel tired or exhausted. This week has been very, very busy and demanding of my energy. As much as it's been busy, I still take time to rest. This means resting my body and my mind. Rest, nourish and replenish. Don't ever feel guilty for going slow and taking the time you need for yourself. A burnt-out vegan traveller isn't useful to anyone. #vegan #food #travel #RandR #rest #melbourne #victoria #australia #fireandtea

Hello, Travellers! If you happen to be in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Canberra this weekend, be sure to check out the Vegan Day Out. Hosted by The Cruelty Free Shop in each city, it's a great way to sample new vegan foods and support the local businesses in each area that are offering vegan deals on each day. It's so interesting how 'overtourism' is affecting cities around the world. When is the point when a tourist wanting an authentic experience starts to encroach on the same places that locals try to call home? This article from SBS News really puts current tourism demands into perspective. #travel #tourism #overtourism

Start with your plate and your world will follow. I learned this lesson a few years into becoming vegan. But it was a long while before I realised what this actually meant for the world, the animals and other people in my community or who I met when I travelled. Starting with your plate means that you can take such a small step that has such a positive impact on your world and the world of others. It's the easiest, most immediate step that anyone can take. It's this first step that truly cemented the path I now follow in all facets of my life from writing, to working and what I focus my time and effort on. Happy Monday, Travellers. Why not start it with just one vegan meal today. #vegan #travel #traveltips #melbourne #victoria #australia #fireandtea #vegantravel
