Sunlit Granite, Yosemite National Park
The quality and variety of light in Yosemite National Park is rather mind blowing when you think about it. I'm always impressed that Yosemite gives me a little lighting surprise each time I visit.

I took this photo one morning as I was leaving the park. The steep valley walls of glacially carved granite creates some harsh shadows, but it also provides great reflected light. The combination of shadows and direct or reflected light can generate some very dramatic lighting conditions. What caught my eye in this scene is the texture and color in the wall that was enhanced the soft lighting conditions. Topping it off to make this a must photograph scene was the ability to include trees for scale.
