The portable medical electronic industry is witnessing significant growth and adoption in recent years. Mobilization of medical devices has driven the healthcare industry as the use of medical equipments has expanded beyond hospitals to homecare environments. Due to the presence of microprocessors the devices manufactured are more portable, compact and are light in weight. Rapid technological advancements in semiconductors provide large scale integration and reduced power consumption. Portable medical equipments comprises of various features such as analog front-ends for data acquisition, amplifiers, filters, ADC convertors, buttons to accept user feedback and MCU for executing algorithm. Coupled with the mentioned features device comprises of variety of interfaces such as USB port, LCD display and others.

Pneumonia is a common lung infection caused by a variety of microorganisms such as bacteria, virus, fungi and parasites. In pneumonia the air sacs of lungs that are known as alveoli are filled with fluid or pus causing inflammation. The common symptoms of pneumonia are cough with phlegm, sneezing, sore throat, chills, fever and trouble in breathing. Pneumonia is usually a mild disease but under certain situations can be lethal. Children, elderly people and those with recent viral infections, lung disease and heart disease are at higher risk of developing pneumonia compared to general population. Pneumonia is of different types depending on the way it has been acquired by people such community acquired pneumonia (CAP), hospital acquired pneumonia (HAP) and healthcare associated pneumonia as patient may also develop pneumonia during their visits to other healthcare setting such as nursing homes, dialysis centers and outpatient clinics. Others are aspiration pneumonia and atypical pneumonia. Pneumonia is one of the most common hospital acquired infection.

Polyisobutylene (PIB) is a linear polymer of isobutylene with varying average molecular weights and is present in various forms such as tough elastomeric solids, viscous liquid and soft solids. It is available in various forms such as conventional PIB, Highly Reactive PIB (HR-PIB) and enhanced PIB. PIB is typically used as tackifier and permanent flexibillizer in pressure sensitive and hot melt adhesives. In addition, it is used in various other applications including detergents, sealants, dispersants, lubricants and fuel additives among others.

Cryopreservation is the process of preserving cells or complete tissues that are susceptible to damage caused by chemical reactivity and harmful enzymatic activity. This process is accomplished by keeping these materials at sub-zero temperatures wherein the activity of chemicals and enzymes stops. This process is performed in an apparatus known as cryopreservation equipment. Cryopreservation equipments include drystore freezers, mechanical freezers, cryopreservation freezers, cryopreservation vials, incubators and stem cell research laboratory equipment. These equipment parts help in completing the process of cryopreservation by providing stable cryogenic storage for biological specimens. The ultra low temperatures attained using these equipments is maintained by the use of certain amount of liquid nitrogen.

Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) is most common type of heart surgery that is performed to treat people suffering from severe angina and coronary artery heart disease. In coronary heart disease, a plaque is formed inside the coronary artery that carries oxygenated blood to myocardium. As the plaque becomes harder over the time, it narrows down the artery and subsequently causes reduced blood flow to heart leading to chest pain called angina. In CABG, a healthy artery or vein from elsewhere in the body is grafted to blocked coronary artery that facilitates the flow of oxygenated blood to heart muscles.

High Throughput Screening (HTS) refers to a scientific experimentation method used in the process of drug discovery. HTS enables automated assays of biological or biochemical activity of compounds similar to drugs. These assays facilitate discovery of enzymes, ligands for receptors and other pharmacological tests. In addition this process aids in rapid identification of antibodies, genes or active compounds that are responsible for alteration of a specific biomolecular pathway. Presently, the HTS industry is expected to reduce the costs involved in drug discovery process and release the potential lead compounds resultant from screening campaigns. This expectation led HTS industry to adopt smarter screening procedures by screening only focused and potential compounds along with the use of highly efficient instrumentation platforms.
