We've launched a Patreon (via +Alahmnat •) to help get the Archive cleaned up and converted to the more commonly-used MediaWiki format. We're not looking for anything crazy, but if you like having us as a resource and want to see our content get better, please consider chipping in a buck or two.

The Guild of Archivists is looking for copy editors, programmers, writers, and people interested in helping to codify our editorial standards and Archive guidelines.

The Archive has been improving slowly but steadily in functionality over the last few weeks. New BBCode tags have been added for more flexible markup, the main Archive landing page has gotten some actually useful information on it, and more content is now discoverable via links in the sidebar.

There's still a lot to do, though. The orientation pages for newcomers are still under construction. Documentation on standardized formatting etc. still needs some serious updates to describe how to use the new info box features. Additional BBCode tags are needed for citations and complex template parsing. Virtually every article in the Archive is in serious need of some editorial TLC. It's a huge mountain of stuff to get through, but we're getting there.

If you're interested in helping (because by "we", I basically mean "me"), please register for an account and make yourself known in the forums. If you had an account at DPWR, your registration is still good on GoArch – you can even sign in via Twitter now, so there's one less password to remember.

Just as a reminder, today is the last day to get your submissions in for Fanfiction February. Post them in the Bookshelf forum, and tag them with "Fanfiction February". Any content warnings (dark/suggestive/etc.) should be tagged as well.

Here's a handy quick-link to the posting form for you: http://www.guildofarchivists.org/forums/index.php?app=forums&module=post&section=post&do=new_post&f=9 (You'll need to be logged in to use it, and if you don't have an account, registration is open either directly or via Twitter.)

Happy Holidays :)

(Re-shared rather than directly posted because G+ won't let you post to a circle and a community at the same time.)
Today is the 7406th anniversary of the finding of the Lost Book of Birenni, an Age that enabled the D'ni to find a cure for a plague that was devastating their population. The Book was rediscovered by Lalen, caretaker and later wife of King Hemelin, on Leevobro 12, 2262 DE (roughly December 12, 5394 BCE).

I've implemented a new [article=] tag for the Archive, so you can now link to another article by name. It works kind of like Wiki's:

- [article=<article name>] links to an article with that title, and uses the article title as the link text. If it doesn't exist, it'll take you to the "New Article" form.
- [article=<article name>|some text] links to an article with that title, and uses "some text" as the link text. Again, if the article doesn't exist, it'll take you to the "New Article" form.

There's a couple of things left to work out, like getting the "New Article" form to pre-fill the title of the article that you're being prompted to create, but overall it's working pretty well. It's passed the biggest test I can think of with flying colors: connecting the D'ni Timeline article to the various per-year and by-day entries.
