At the corner of Michigan Avenue and Oak Street, Spiaggia Restaurant & Lounge offers modern Italian fine dining in a ReImagined contemporary setting.

Celebrating its third decade, the critically-acclaimed Spiaggia continues to evolve and modernize while remaining a leader for creative Italian cuisine. A complete redesign of the Dining Room and addition of the Spiaggia Lounge in May 2014, paired with its iconic views of Lake Michigan and Michigan Avenue, provide a setting unlike any other.

Guests may explore a tasting menu, choose an a la carte experience and enjoy dramatically presented dishes and cocktails aperitivo-style in the Lounge (opens at 4:30 p.m. daily).

Dress:
Spiaggia celebrates the Italian term of sprezzatura or “nonchalant elengace,” which doesn't require jackets anymore, but suggests that dressing smart is always welcome. The Lounge is "come as you are."

Cafe Spiaggia:
Our neighborhood trattoria, is an ideal location for a casual lunch or dinner and offers a respite from a day of shopping or at the office. Open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m.

297 miles 7 hours travel for the an extremely underwhelming culinary experience. An atmosphere reminiscent of late night airport dining. Pretentious without reason or cause. Food which would be unrecognizable to anyone in terms of Italian. Adequate "bread & butter" first course more suited for an amuse bouche rather than a course on its own. Soup was good rich in flavor and cleverly presented but in all to heavy hand on the truffles. Squash blossoms tempura battered lacked texture, seasoning and appeal/refinement looked like more like fried jalapeño popper from a local bar. Bucatini course was so under cooked it could have caused dental damage and was sent back. The squid course was the only kitchen break through we had the pleasure of dining upon this evening. It was sexy and full of flavor and heart. Bison course was boring at best and felt totally incomplete lacking accompanying flavors, textures and sustains. Corn bread dessert was more like my granny's trifle from the 70's but beautiful on the plate. Being someone who has a great respect for fine dining and has traveled and eaten in over 80% of the Michelin rated restaurants in Chicago I feel there are some like Spiaggia who no longer deserve such an honor. The most ironic comment of the night came from a lovely staff member who cautioned us that Tony was pushing for two (stars) however I recommend Spiaggia do some serious soul searching to keep one!! There are places in the city doing FAR better food at bib gourmand and James Beard Restaurants . 400 dollars not well and hours of travel not well spent.

Incredible spot! Michelin resto that really deserved their star! The steak dish was unreal- I could have cried it was so good! Wish they had more moderately priced wines but I guess at a place like this you should expect to drop some big bucks. Well worth it though!

Came here for lunch during restaurant week - loved each dish! There were three of us, and we ordered one of everything on the menu. Standouts were the pasta dishes, for sure. Fresh ingredients, excellent service! What a great spot for a fancy lunch. Looking forward to trying the regular menu soon - everything looked and smelled divine.

This is a wonderful restaurant with great views of Michigan Ave. and even greater food! The gnocchi is wonderful, as is the Tiramisu, one of my favorite desserts. They have tons of wines to choose from, and service is always A+! Prices are on the higher side, but it is a very nice restaurant and worth every cent! Great to take that special someone for a birthday or anniversary.

I was in Chicago to have a reunion with some friends and decided to treat them to a fine dining experience. Since I have not been to many Michelin rated restaurants, I figured I would try to find one. Spiaggia quickly jumped to the top of the list after doing some research on my friends tastes. We were six total and were seated promptly. Then began the service. We were not seen by the waiter for another 10 minutes. Everyone ordered a drink including a coke. I know I know a coke seems out of place here, but let's be real, this should be easily accommodated. Everyone but my coke loving friend received their beverage. He had to wait for another 20 minutes and that included 2 prompts by us to various waiters to get that damn coke. This was a recurring theme throughout the evening. When our meal was done and we ordered dessert. Again we all received our order except one person. We had to prompt them about it and they ended up comping that particular dessert. In the end the food was pretty good but the service was incredibly lacking. Especially for a restaurant with such high credentials.

I can not say enough good things about this restaurant. The food is fabulous and the service is top notch! The wait staff is knowledgeable about the intricacies of the dishes and the flavors are amazingly thought out and superb.

Nice restaurant with beautiful design, but too much pricey for what they served. It looks like that they try to do like 3 Michelin stars with very small portions and very high prices... If you prefer something more simple, go the "cafe" and enjoy the "pasta"!

I've only been to Cafe Spiaggia, but everything was amazing. My favorite dish was the wild boar ragu. My friend also really liked his chicken liver mousse. The cafe is cute and cozy with nice views of Michigan Ave.
