INTERNATIONAL COFFEE DAY
Originating in Ethiopia and tracing its first consumption to Sufi monasteries in 15th-century Yemen, coffee has been energizing people around the world for over 600 years. Today, this piping hot liquid is a breakfast staple in hundreds of countries—some 2.2 billion cups of coffee are consumed around the globe each day, with Finland topping the list as the most caffeinated country in the world. In honor of International Coffee Day on October 1, the world takes a moment to recognize the beverage that keeps us sharp and productive, no matter how little we slept last night. #InternationalCoffeeDay #SanDiego #OfficeCoffeeService

NATIONAL COFFEE DAY
Coffee is as integral a part of American culture as rock n’ roll, and blue jeans. But if it weren’t for the Boston Tea Party of 1773, Americans may never have adopted coffee as their national morning beverage of choice. When the colonies revolted against King George III’s reduction of the tea tax, this sparked a mass switch from tea-drinking to coffee-drinking. More than two centuries later, America is collectively buzzing from its massive coffee intake. On Sept. 29, we fill our cups with joe and raise a toast to America’s favorite caffeine fix for National Coffee Day. #NationalCoffeeDay #SanDiego #OfficeCoffeeService

NATIONAL PANCAKE DAY
A day so nice they made it twice — September 26 is the year’s second National Pancake Day! Get those hotcakes on the griddle, it’s time to prepare some pancakes! Pancakes are an old staple, dating back to Ancient Greece. Since then, many varieties have been created across the globe. In Britain, France, and other parts of Europe, their pancakes (or crepes) are thin and often served with a sweet or savory filling. In Indonesia they consume pancakes known as “serabi”, which are made with rice flour and coconut milk. In Uganda pancakes are made with bananas. These are just a few of the many different variations across the globe. All are delicious and worth celebrating on National Pancake Day! Whichever style of pancake you prefer, get ready to enjoy a stack of them with a cup of our amazing coffee! NationalPancakeDay #SanDiego #OfficeCoffeeService

INTERNATIONAL TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY
Join us for International Talk Like a Pirate Day! There’s something so enchanting about the idea of swashbuckling adventure upon the high seas. Maybe it’s the buried treasure, or the sandy beaches, or the spirit of freedom in the breeze. Or could it be a little the rum added to your coffee today? Whatever the draw, we’ve fallen in love with pirates. While real pirates were nothing to be adored, it’s still fun to growl, “Yarr!” and fling around some salty jibes with your modern mates. #TalkLikeAPirate #InternationalTalkLikeAPirate #TalkLikeAPirateDay #SanDiego #OfficeCoffeeService

LABOR DAY
Do you get weekends off work? Lunch breaks? Paid vacation? An eight-hour work day? Social security? If you said “yes” to any of these questions, you can thank labor unions and the U.S. labor movement for it. Many of the most basic benefits we enjoy at our jobs today were the result of years of hard-fought battles and the legislation they inspired. On the first Monday in September, we take the day off to celebrate Labor Day and reflect on the American worker’s contributions to our country. #LaborDay #SanDiego #OfficeCoffeeService

PAY TO PLAY!
In 1932, Brazil couldn't afford to send its athletes to the Olympics in Los Angeles. So they loaded their ship with coffee and sold it along the way.

COFFEE WAS ORIGINALLY CHEWED!
Sipping may be your preferred method of java consumption, but coffee hasn't always been a liquid treat. According to a number of historians, the first African tribes to consume coffee did so by grinding the berries together, adding in some animal fat, and rolling these caffeinated treats into tiny edible energy balls. #EatYourCoffee #CoffeeBalls #CoffeeRecipe #SanDiegoCoffee #OfficeCoffeeService

Here's a recipe to try (minus the animal fat):
1 cup raw cashews
3 tbsp fresh roasted coffee beans
1 cup packed. soft pitted dates
1/4 cup grated dark chocolate
Optional toppings: sesame seeds, poppy seeds, coconut, flax seeds, pecan halves

Place the cashews and coffee beans in a food processor.
Process until roughly chopped.
Add the dates and process until a dough forms.
Empty into a bowl and mix in the chocolate.
Shape into 12-14 balls and roll in desired toppings
Store in the fridge or freezer.
