My favorite gadget/toy/cool stuff store in the city. Great selection for all price ranges, friendly staff, and the lifetime warranty is awesome. They really do test the gear they sell. I bought my Canada Goose expedition parka from these guys in 2004, way before anyone else caught on, these knew.

i ordered something for my wife online through this website and i waited days and days to get the tracking # so i can follow up on where the package was...days later i still didn't get anything even tho my FedEx package said it was supposed to be delivered yesterday so i called up FedEx asking what happen and they said the company never even sent out the package via FedEx they only created a label to ship the package but never physically sent the package...so i called the company asking what happen? and i told them i paid EXTRA to get the package sent via express so it would only take me 3 days or less to get it...yet i waited over 3 days and i found out the package never left the warehouse. when i called back they told me there's a problem that they don't even have the item in their warehouse and they wont be getting it till after December 26th. which is too late cause it was supposed to be a Christmas gift! THEY NEVER NOTIFIED ME ABOUT THE PACKAGE NO EMAIL, NO CALL, NO TEXT NOTHING I HAD TO CALL AND ASK ABOUT ALL OF THIS ON MY OWN...IF I DIDN'T CALL I WOULDN'T HAVE KNOWN THE ITEM ISN'T EVEN IN THE WAREHOUSE. they told me they will give me a refund all of my money back but i am not seeing it....hate the page, never using it again. fix your policy, fix your customer service and next time notify people about issues with the packages...better yet STAY AWAY FROM THE ENTIRE STORE AND THEIR ONLINE PAGE.

Their great catalogs one indulges in reading while taxiing on the runway at JFK promises a curated selection of some of the coolest gadgets, toys, health, beauty, and electronics available. The staff at the store are extremely helpful and pleasant, not at all stuffy or high-pressure sales. If there is something in the catalog you have your eye on, the store is a great place to see it in person before you buy. (They don't have everything. Some things are catalog only.) But behind the curtain one gets a sense of overpriced doodads filling a need that can be meet just as well for a fraction of the cost elsewhere. The rest is simply ludicrous: $12,000 for a nap pod? Just give me the $12K - I'll sleep quite soundly, thank you.

Horrible. I went to exchange my hammacher schlemmer umbrella for another one since it broke. This old man told me they would exchange it for another one similar not even the same brand. After some wiseguy remarks, he showed me a smaller, inferior quality, different brand umbrella and wanted me to pay more for it. Outraged, I said I'm not paying more for a lesser umbrella and left. After deciding what the hell i need an umbrella i went back in. After arguing with me and more wiseguy remarks, denying what he told me in the beginning and denying i paid 50 for my umbrella, he told me " ok ill get my manager, i dont need this" i finally got the inferior quality umbrella, not even hamacher schlemmer, not even the same size, and didnt have to pay. What kind of guarantee is that? I have to pay more for a lesser umbrella?! I thought these were guaranteed for life!! Not only have to pay but more for a lesser umbrella!! Horrible customer treatment. Horrible customer experience. I now will not buy anything ever again from these shyster a-holes.

I had visited Hammacher Schlemmer yesterday (Sunday Nov 4) and was a little disappointed by the way the store is run. I will explain why. I had come into the store to purchase the 3 D Drawing pen and inquire about the 3D Printer that they have on their Web Site since I am very interested in both. The pen was found locked in a cabinet among other items right by the door. Easy enough to find, however the printer was not even in the store. My wife who is an artist by trade wanted to see the 3D pen in action and ask specific questions about the pen as she was prepared to make a purchase. The salesperson could not answer our questions about the voltage of the pen (as we are planning to use the 3D pen overseas), at first she did not know what 220 meant. After I described it to her, she said I suppose since its a high ticket item. She looked at the plug and then saw it said 240 V on it. She then was fumbling around the item itself not wanting to really show it to us. I had then asked isn't there a demo item in the front? She told me there is a policy not to demo items. She then was trying to find out voltage info on the 3D printer which was not in the store and she was asking someone on the phone. At this point, I knew she could not answer of my technical questions about the 3D Printer which I was ready to purchase for my business or the 3D pen that she was just fumbling around info from the Web Site that I already read at home. My wife started to loose interest in both items due to the lack of information about the pen and her inability to answer any questions about either item. We decided to leave and thank her for her time. We still want both items as they are a tool we are very much interested for our business..only from a store that can answer technical questions and demo the item for us. This was quite a disappointment and demonstrates why stores have closed and people are buying from Web Sites as the prices are lower since you have to do the reading and hope the item will work for your needs which is not always the case. I grew up purchasing everything in a store and try to continue to do so as I prefer to see the item in person and speak to a knowledgeable person in a store opposed to purchasing items without even seeing them or speaking to anyone. I feel bad for this store, however their salespeople are not up to par.

If you're looking for a more unique/functional gift, this is the place to go and get it. The sales associates are not 100% knowledgeable about all the merchandise.

HAHA !! this place rocks!!! i came here with my GF to buy a gift to her father. we ended up getting like 5 items. The place is like a big toy store for older ppl. its cool, if you are around go in.
