Gallery 427 is pleased to announce it's next guest artist.
Painter Andrea Edstrom

Binding messy moments with unamused faces, the psychedelic portraits of men and women achieve a moody mist of discomfort, drizzled in light humor. The tragicomedy forms are created with loud hues, sporadic strokes, and loose lines. Stretched out eyes and elongated mouths and necks dangle hints of irritation, hostility and resentment felt from misfortunes. The paintings give a chance for the onlooker to reveal their own past tension of ‘no one knows how it feels’. At one time or another we all experienced unexplained and bad circumstances which might leave us in a raw state of mind, with lingering questions of why. I tend to gravitate to organic illustrations and forms that are unnatural or distorted. To give and create something unseen from within is a gift.

Opening reception March 8th 7pm-10pm

Introduction
My acrylic paintings deal with a mixture of style and ideas, combining abstract ideas with color, along with more traditional figurative work.
My goal is to capture the innate human spirit and reveal a provocative narrative between the subject and its surroundings.
The intentional play with perspective allows the viewer to see the art as being much about composite space as it is about hidden meanings.
My influences come from several places:
friends, surrealism, erotica, and life experiences.
They help me create work that I hope will be both striking and seductive.
