Gallery 427 presents it's next guest artist.
Minneapolis artist and Rogue Buddha gallery owner
Nicholas Harper

Artist Statement:
This body of work represents my continued search for the divine and transcendent that lives in each of us. Pitted against a worldly backdrop where all too often emphasis is placed upon the tragedies which humans purposely inflict on one another, as individuals, nations and or organizations, my hope is to find that which elevates and inspires. Through a haunting dark beauty I hope to find the song of the soul that resides in myself as well as the viewer. By distorting the figure I hope to transform the work beyond mere representation of a particular person to a symbolic and allegorical narrative for the soul, it’s connection to the divine and it’s place within our worldly natures.

This body of work is born of charcoal, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, gold leaf, glitter and wax on board.

Opening reception: Saturday January 9 ,2016 from 7 to 10pm.

Show runs through February 6 2016

An Animal Themed Art Exhibition

"Animal Attraction" brings together seven talented artists working in a variety of mediums in a group show exploring animals and there various and complicated interactions with humans.
Each artist finds inspiration in all kinds of creatures, both domestic or wild, big or small, or in between to create within their own unique artistic styles, a feast for the eyes and a celebration of art, and a look at the animals that we share this planet with.

 Creatures, Feathered or Furry Friends,
Varmints, Family Members, Companions, Critters, Beasts.

No matter what you call them, "Animal Attraction" strives to point out the imagination, humor, and fun that art can be.

Story
Tagline
Artist and Curator
Introduction
My acrylic paintings deal with a mixture of style and ideas, combining abstract ideas with color, along with more traditional figurative work.
My goal is to capture the innate human spirit and reveal a provocative narrative between the subject and its surroundings.
The intentional play with perspective allows the viewer to see the art as being much about composite space as it is about hidden meanings.
My influences come from several places:
friends, surrealism, erotica, and life experiences.
They help me create work that I hope will be both striking and seductive.
