Gallery 427 presents
Face Value
The Dynamics of Portraiture
Five Painters Unique Interpretation of what Painting a Portrait means to them.

Each artist's portrait work captures the essence of their subjects and reveals the personality of the subject as well as that of the creator.
For each, the process conveys the likeness and character of both, along with a depth of understanding the subject that intrigues and brings out the intrinsic beauty in each piece.

Michael Bellottis  portraits come from meeting and working with people from all walks of life and freezing a moment in time with those that sit for him.
Darrell Hagans surreal images keep some mystery around the narratives in his paintings that let the viewer use their own ideas to develop a story.
Ranielle Johnsons portraits are  imperfect and distinctive, just like the person she has captured. Paintings that capture a personality, not just a face.
Andrea Edstroms  portraits are an opportunity to embellish the subtle  features of a face and to drown out the noisy reality everyone views on a daily basis.
Roger Williamsons  work is an ongoing exploration of ceremonial magic, shamanism, and a few dozen related disciplines that are the driving force behind his oils and pastels.

Introduction
My acrylic paintings deal with a mixture of style and ideas, combining abstract ideas with color, along with more traditional figurative work.
My goal is to capture the innate human spirit and reveal a provocative narrative between the subject and its surroundings.
The intentional play with perspective allows the viewer to see the art as being much about composite space as it is about hidden meanings.
My influences come from several places:
friends, surrealism, erotica, and life experiences.
They help me create work that I hope will be both striking and seductive.
