When Bernie Madoff was on everyone's mind and there needed to be an Italian restaurant for Palm Beachers at half the price of Bice, Cafe Centro happened to have opened and been discovered. We never liked it............though we do like the pizza. The back room with the piano is too loud. We haven't been there in years. And yes, it is the neighborhood anchor and that's a good thing.

We ate there last night. If someone gives this place a bad review then they are crazy, or they are competing against this place and mad at how good it is. This is some of the best food I've ever eaten. The pasta is tender, the seafood is fresh, and the flavors are perfect. The service is top notch...they have someone that replaces all of your silverware anytime you use any, folded my wife's napkin for her while she used the bathroom, and they know the menu and specials from memory. The piano and singer add a nice subtle touch (not intrusively loud), and the decor makes you feel like you're in a home in Italy. The ceiling in the backroom has great exposed wood beams and interesting musical art-work. The wine list is good and you can bring your own special bottle for a cork fee (very common in Napa). They select the correct glasses and keep your drink filled the entire night. The menu appears very classic but the way it is prepared is excellent, and what you don't see on there are the nightly specials and the awesome desserts. You will lick every course's plate clean, trust me!

We had been here a few time before and always had a good meal and pleasant time, but not last night. Table of 4, reservations at 7:30. Place was pretty busy so the table we were given was not the best (near the front door) but that was okay. Sitting for over 20 minutes with no word from the waitstaff was NOT okay! We could see that other tables seated later were being taken care of. Was it because we were 4 gay men or just short staffed?

Went on a Saturday evening. Sat in the piano bar. Was so noisy could barely hear the piano. Food was barely average.
