A "neighborhood standby where everybody knows your name", this "mom-and-pop" Italian in Midtown is known for its "amazing", "filling" fare and homemade bread "to die for", all delivered by a "warm", "courteous" staff "at a reasonable price"; it's always "bustling", so expect "noisy" digs along with occasional "waits."
Authentic Italian pasta and food as well as New Haven style pizza (thinner airy, doughy crust). Nice atmosphere and staff with a great beer and wine selection.
The house salad is huge and well worth adding to your pizza or pasta order. I loved the vegetarian pizza (because I love artichoke on my pizza).
If you're still not convinced to go here let me remind you it's from the same people that brought us Paco's Tacos and Midwood Smokehouse.
The food was so good and our waiter Dylan was on top of his game. The hostess was very helpful and the customer service was great. I had the penne alla vodka with chicken and it was the best I've tasted. I'll definitely be back. ....
Food was great! Penne a la vodka. I went here with a Meetup group, and although we didn't have a reservation we were before the rush, and they were able to accommodate us, very happily. Definitely a good vibe in the place.
A friend and I dined at Mama Ricotta's yesterday evening (it was my second visit), and I must say that I was entirely dissapointed. The cocktails were weak and the wine pours small. I can understand this from a business perspective, but the quality of the food should make up for that! I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and it was very dry. I had to request an extra side of sauce to pour over my dish. I do not see myself visiting this restaurant again anytime soon.
