I absolutely love everything about Locanda - from their cocktails and delicious food to the friendly service and atmosphere. Can't go wrong with any of their tasty dishes. The cocktails are great - strong and well-balanced. Locanda is one of my fave spots in the Mission. Perfect for drinks with friends or a first date.

Great to have a cocktail before roaming around Valencia as your street block party. Their cocktails are wonderful and the service is fantastic. It can get loud if you try to go on a date, but awesome to be with a large group of girls or guys to celebrate life in the city.

Refreshing to have a grilled fish of the day option in a restaurant that specializes in Roman-style pasta. It did not disappoint! The halibut was delicious and perfectly grilled. The shaved artichoke/arugula/ricotta salad was light and flavorful. My server made an excellent wine recommendation to compliment the fish.

We went on a Monday and it was packed! Cauliflower pizza bianca (3 stars; I like cauliflower but the puree sauce was just a bit too much for me), the fried duck egg (5 stars; super rich with a surprising combination of ingredients), the veal casoncelli (4 stars; I thought it was unique but not amazing), bucatini all'amatriciana (5 stars; distinctive and delicious flavor and the texture was just perfect). No dessert here; we went to Bi-Rite (: Update: Went again with a party of five. We ordered two bottles of wine, Jewish style artichokes, early girl tomatoes, several pasta dishes: the bucatina, fettuccini, spaghetti, the fish; my favorite was probably the spaghetti, which comes out not looking like spaghetti at all. All in all, it was again a 4 star experience.

There's countless ways to describe this hipper (not to be confused with hipster) side of the restaurant scene in the Mission. Though, it's simple enough to sum it up in a few words: modern dining with Mad Men inspired cocktails. My friend and I went here and played gastro-roulette where we let the waitress pick out some of her favorite unique dishes for us. She was not only wonderful, but also incredibly intuitive. We were served Jerusalem artichokes and oxtail along with complimentary bubbly to celebrate their second anniversary. What pairs nicely with oxtail? Surprisingly an old fashion. What tops one old fashion? A flight of old fashions which were each uniquely made with different whiskeys, sugared rims, and bitters from exotic parts of the world. We rolled out of Locanda with full bellies and smiling faces.

This spot is heaven for me. If you're considering this spot, yes, go here. Fantastic cocktails await (highly recommend the Old Fashioned Flight if you want to feel like Don Draper. For secondi the Rigatoni alla Carbonara is a must not miss Our main was selected by our waitress after assuring her that we wanted her to surprise us; the oxtail she picked was totally wonderful, tender and certainly made me look at oxtail as a viable option at a restaurant. The decor is fabulous with a romantic feel without being too darkly lit. I felt like I wanted to stay and talk for hours while trying and drinking everything, but alas all good things must come to an end. Can't wait until my next dinner here.
