Meisner Technique Workshop

The Player's Theatre
115 MacDougal St.
New York, NY 10012
Room 3D
Admission: $20
25% off referral discount

Sanford Meisner said, "An ounce of behavior is worth a pound of words." His approach to acting was relatively simple to understand but quite difficult to master. It all begins with his now famous "repetition exercises" which he created to remove the thought process from the actor's work. By doing so he found a way to tap into the instincts. His actors learned the importance of listening and responding from their own truthful point of view based on what he called the "pinch" for the "ouch". It is a unique and highly effective way of working.

In my July 23 workshop I will focus on the first 3 stages of the Meisner Technique, guiding students through each exercise, providing specific feedback along the way. This workshop as in all my workshops will be participatory.

*If you would like to attend my July 23rd workshop please confirm as soon as possible. If you refer someone to the workshop and they attend I will provide you with a 25% discount.

NOTE: Students should bring a journal as I don't allow audio or video taping of my classes or workshops.

Interested students can register at alangordonstudio@gmail.com.

Warmest regards,

THIS THURSDAY EVENING, Thursday evening, June 25th:
 Breaking Down the Script Workshop
7pm to 9:00pm
The Player's Theatre
115 MacDougal St.
New York, NY 10012
Room 3C
Admission: $20 (25% off referral discount)

Marlon Brando had 4,000 books in his personal library, all of them annotated. His scripts were annotated in the same manner. Known for his attention to detail, he was not only a gifted actor, but a master craftsman as well.

On June 25, as I have done in previous breaking down the script workshops, I will provide students with specifics tools for breaking down the script into its essential elements. This approach to script breakdown is necessary for all aspects of acting i.e. scene study, audition technique, cold readings.

*If you would like to attend my June 25 workshop please confirm as soon as possible. If you refer someone to the workshop and they attend I will provide you with a 25% discount.

NOTE: Please bring a journal to take notes. I do not allow audio or video taping of my workshops or classes.

Interested students can register at alangordonstudio@gmail.com.

LATEST EZINE ARTICLE:  Sanford Meisner said, "The seed of all acting is rooted in the reality of doing." To provide his students with an instinctive way of working he invented his famous "repetition" exercises. Throughout the various stages of the exercises the partners place all of their attention on one another, remain in the "repetition", and work from their truthful selves, until the teacher signals them to stop, offering corrective criticism when necessary.
