I purchased a 60GB Agility 3 SATAIII drive the other day to put Windows 8 on and dual boot to both evaluate that experience, get some real benchmarks and test drivers. So far, not too much trouble. Popped in the drive, installed Windows 8 and upon reboot I almost thought it killed my Windows 7 install because I saw the fish. But upon waiting a little longer, a new Windows 8 GUI boot loader showed up and I was able to chose, phew.
All my devices work with Windows 7 x64 drivers, including my RAID array which shows up as D:\ in Windows 8, which was also somewhat worrying; until I rebooted into 7 to find C:\ was my 2x 120gb Kingston HyperX RAID0 array once more and W:\ (formatted to be as such initially) was indeed my Agility 3 with Windows 8 on it. Certainly not used to that when multi-booting, pretty cool that it does that dynamically.
The only system driver that I have that is Windows 8 compatible are my Nvidia drivers for my SLI GTX 460s. It's a beta driver but seems to work OK so far.
The issue I'm running into right now, that I didn't run into while virtualizing the OS is that then I move my mouse to the left or right edge of the screen to bring up the menu systems, it's freezes for perhaps 30 seconds, lets go, freezes again, 3-4 times before the menu opens or I quickly move away. Since I didn't get it in the VM I suspect it's driver related but I can;t be sure. Anyone else experience this?
