Tick tock. Some sobering relativistic comparisons about just how much time has passed - from the perspective of a 33 year old.

Soylent saves about 90 minutes a day for most people. How do some members of the species use the extra time? Watching Television.

Which one of the shapes is named 'Bouba' and which is named 'Kiki'? About 98% of all humans choose the same answer.

The Times offers an eye opening view of birth control efficacy over a 10 year period. The male condom has an 86% ten year failure rate with typical (e.g. non-perfect) use. The venerable 'pill' has a 61% failure rate!

It makes a lot of sense when you think about it. If there are 100 couples using a contraception method that has 95% efficacy, that is only 5 failures in the first year. The second year is a cumulative 10 failures, etc. 10 years later, it is 50. That's a 50% ten year failure rate for a 95% effective method.

What an interesting perspective on a common statistic!

Look at that curve! The jump from the the 9th decile to the 10th is eye opening. People go from 2 drinks a day to over 10!

For the bookworms in my circles. With the launch of Kindle Unlimited, I finally decided to try a competitor's e-book subscription service (I was mostly underwhelmed by the Kindle Unlimited catalog). Here's my thoughts about Oyster Books.

Wired has written an excellent account of the realities of startup life, albeit from a founders perspective. The stress of it all sounds absolutely miserable and not worth the trade of your youth and health.
