W2ZJ Amateur Radio Association of the Southern Tier from cabin #5 on Harris Hill, NY 3A WNY

About 30 CW contacts for me. Funny, show up with a vibroplex and a chair suddenly opens up. It's nice to be worth the extra points just fer doing the code!

Exactly right there Pedro ,,, Ham radio is unlike any other sort of technological pursuit a person can take on.
It indeed is unique.....

I've been a ham for 23 years now and never had much to do with Field Day +Nathan C only worked it a few times actually. Getting into CW got me into sprints and I think that got me into Field Day. I was 14 when I was licensed and a no-code ham back when that was a relatively controversial thing still. 37 now and played with lots of the hobby but the simplicity of code and QRP really rooted in. All I can tell you is that my field day experience was much like that of all my radio experience in that it was what I made of it and the few hours I say at my home made cootie key last time made me feel awesome.

Well its done for another year. Operated with the local club and brought my dad too.

Morse code ops are some kind of crazy mutants it seems! So, no trouble getting air time for me. Have key, will travel, and my contacts count for twice as much.

Made about 30-35 contacts and sat 3 shifts. Met a lot of local hams and had a blast.

Sideswiper net at 20:00 Eastern 00:00z on 7.044 MHz

Stop on by if the WX hasn't got you down. Don't need to be a sideswiper or cootie key to say hello. N6SL is NCS typically and it's directed but an easy going net. Drop your call sign at QNI and take a number.

Making Switchel the original New England summertime drink.

It was the proto gaitoraid from the days before refrigeration. And one day long ago in Shelburn VT I learned about it.

Tablespoon blackstrap molasses
Tablespoon honey
Splash to tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Cool water to fill and stir.

It always seems like it's the facility staffs first time on the job when we are there and the food has become much less of late at the cafe's Ever since the herder's cottage was made into just a gift shop. Still it's the farmers museum! The displays of equipment are very nice and the living history village along with the animals are fantastic. If you want or need to learn how something was done in the past it's a great place for research and the historic interpreters are always eager to share what they know.

It's the best I've been able to do in the southern tier of New York. However coming from the capital region I'm accustomed to the stores being run a little better and the staff being a little sharper. It's much nicer than the Barre VT store, but further evidence of the sliding scale of what is an acceptable standard in the chain. Bottom line, if you're like be and Price Chopper is a part of the home you're away from it's absolutely wonderful to have.

I worked there years ago and I watched them mistreat people as a result of an unprofessional staff. It's a nightmare factory.
