You've found the perfect quote for your nonfiction book to inspire your readers; or, you've found the exact song lyric that captures the theme of your fiction book. Is it ok to use it? Many writers are never quite sure what’s safe to quote—how much, and in what contexts? Are there instances when you can safely borrow material that belongs to someone else without infringing on their copyright? And what happens if you do—accidentally, of course—infringe on someone’s copyright? We've got the answers to your questions here! http://ow.ly/Ecrj301rVJe

Have you ever been totally immersed in a book and then the character does something that makes you snort in derision (or maybe you're a bit more polite and just raise your eyebrows)? You've encountered a "yeah, right" moment. Why, you ask yourself, did the author do that? These are called lapses of logic, and we've all seen them and we've probably all written them, too.
While you can't fix them in an already published book, you can avoid them in your own stories. Editor Sabine Berlin has the scoop on logic and how it can make or break your story.

On Monday we shared Rachelle J. Christensen's post about the basics of online social media for marketing your book. But what happens when you have to actually do your hair and go outside? Part of getting the word out about your book is making appearances. Book signings, speaking engagements, book club visits, writing conferences, and more exist with great promotional opportunities for authors and their books. Rachelle has more great advice over on our blog for promoting your book!
