The Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits is the country’s only active urban paleontological excavation site. On display are the fossils found there — saber-toothed cats, mammoths, and dire wolves.

Interesting but not worth $12. They let active military and family in for free which is nice. Go on the free days they offer.

Not worth the $11 to go in to the museum but interesting. Go on free museum day (Tuesday). Tar pools look more like swamps. Just saying.

Most historical reference in LA! Here's a great exhibit of extinct animals showing evidence that these elephant like creatures roamed North America before the ice age! The museum showcases the bones of the mammoth, sabre tooth tiger and other extinct animals discovered at the LaBrea Tar Pits. History of the land formation, early native inhabitants and accounts of the first settlers from Europe, to the changes and building of Los Angeles throughout time, up to the present, are clearly explained along with diagrams and artists renderings of important developments in LA's past!
