I was always a big fan of cheddars, until my bestfriend and I took our kids out to eat there... When I first arrived there I was told it would take 10-15 min for us to be seated which was fine. After about 25 min I went and asked them about our table because there were clearly many tables open (was not busy at all) they hostess had a attitude and said hold on then comes back and try to put my best friend our 6 kids and I at a booth for 4 people. I told her it would not work so said hold on at this point I was done so we just left...... Not a cheddar's fan anymore

The service at this restaurant is the worst in Waco! They lie about when they will get you in. I'm not talking by 15 minutes. They tell you to wait 45 minutes, when that is over, they tell you to wait another 45 minutes. They have snotty little wait staff. I wouldn't spend a penny in this restaurant even though that's exactly what the staff there are worth. No, not even that. And you can bet this is not the only posting I'll make. Your sorry place will be posted about everywhere, and then some.

While the service is hit-or-miss (particularly in the bar area), the food is fairly good! The prices are high but you do get a LOT of food for that. If you're not in that mood & get roped into heading here with a group, you can get the vegetable plate for $6 & it includes a full bowl of soup or salad along with 4 side dishes.

I have been to a couple Cheddar's before, but this is by far the best one. The food is amazing and delicious, the service is superb, the decor is pleasant, and the prices are low. Every single time I have gone here, I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Each waiter/waitress has been kind, attentive, and cooperative. If the order was wrong, they would make sure it was fixed. If my drink was low, they would bring me a filled replacement. If I would like more queso, but it would cost me a bit extra, the waiter will do everything he can in his power to cut the price down as much as possible. Once, when I was brought by two separate waiters the same side order (the place was very busy at the time), the second waiter gave us the food anyway and told us it was on the house. How awesome is that? Overall, this is one of the best places at which to eat in Waco. I do have some complaints, however, and although they are minor, I believe they are worth acknowledging. First is the fact that this establishment is almost always packed. Due to this, the wait time can range anywhere from under five minutes to closer to thirty, oftentimes falling somewhere between the two extremes. The noise level in the establishment is quite high and more often than not the place is crowded with bustling servers and customers going every which way. Once you get seated, I personally find it easy to tolerate what quickly becomes the equivalent of background white noise; however, some of the people with whom I ate are not so able to do so. Having said that, I suggest you steer clear of this Cheddar's if you hate loud and busy places. One very redeeming quality of this restaurant (and the franchise as a whole) is the fact that the service and decor gives one the impression that he or she is eating at a high-end diner. However, the absence of any dress code, the relaxed and amiable attitude of the servers, and the surprisingly low prices all complement this restaurant, well earning the name of being considered a "casual café." To top it all off, the food is beyond excellent and even when the order was a bit off, I nonetheless enjoyed my savory meal. If you don't mind a bit of a wait, a full house, and a somewhat noisy environment, this is definitely the best place to go. And after you eat (or before you do), if you're interested in some entertainment, the Starplex Cinema 16 is just around the corner!

Food was okay... Was told I needed to pay extra for the Alfredo sauce to go on my Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo... Seriously??? It's in the name... It should come with the food...

My 80+ yr old parents said they had a great meal a couple of weeks ago and wanted to go back to order the same meal again. Sirloin steak, baby carrots, green beans. So we did. Expectations were high, we were seated quickly (yay!), everyone was hungry but when our meal finally came (45-50 minutes later) only after I asked another server to check on it, it was really disappointing. The server, pleasant enough, went for long periods without coming by (refills on coffee took 10 minutes) and my parents were really hungry after the long wait so they began to eat as soon as our food came. The steak was terribly greasy, overcooked, and filled with gristle. After trying hard not to complain, my parents finally shared their disappointment with me and it became evident we needed to talk to someone to issue a mannerly complaint. The server asked the manager to come over and I immediately felt she was on the defensive, in fact almost aggressive/combative--perhaps she'd already had a hard day, I don't know, don't care. She basically challenged us, talked down to us and then told us she'd credit the steak meal. Good managers come around, speak to the customers during the meal and at least act like they care. They shouldn't show up only when there's a problem. They should also introduce themselves, confirm that they wish your experience to be exceptional and do what they can to make it right. We didn't ask for a refund, but we did want to be heard. Even though the food was acceptable (not exceptional) except for the steak which was totally sub-par she made a negative situation worse because she couldn't listen, couldn't empathize--and to make matters worse my dad is a WWII veteran--he's served in two wars. I think Ms Manager may find that she's in the wrong profession--the people business. Handling objections and turning them around takes practice. I'd recommend some practice and role playing on handling customers in a professional manner. Would I go back, probably, but I'd set expectations with my server immediately. And, yes, we tipped the server for the total bill, not just what we got credited. Hope this can be taken objectively--I'm hoping Cheddars cares enough to know what their customers think.
