A bit of water in the rio Chillar for a change and there were three young Ringed Plovers scuttling up and down as if playing, and I didn't have my camera. When I did have my camera, they had gone. Typical. But there were some Sandpipers bobbing along.

This small warbler - Willow Warbler? - was busy eating and I fully expected it to immediately fly off as it was very low above the footpath, but it didn't. There are so many warblers and the differences between species are often slight, but I am tending…

I was on my way home when I decided to stop and have a chat with this pigeon and take his photo. It wasn’t until I saw him from the front that I noticed that the poor thing only had one leg. Didn’t seem unduly unhappy, though.

It was a lovely day for a short wander, but there wasn’t an awful lot going on. At first, about the only birds I saw in any quantity were doves. Managed to root out a few more, though, as well as this rather attractive leaf hanging forlornly on the branch…

Quite a windy day, gusty down by the sea, but fortunately fairly warm so a good day to get out for a little stroll. Time of day, probably, but there wasn’t much activity down by the river apart from Serins, but they are always munching away. A couple of…

There were a few Stonechats, Saxicola rubicola, hanging around down by the river, along with a few Goldfinches, the odd Grey Wagtail and  a couple of Spotted Flycatchers. But by far the most abundant, in their hundreds, were the Serins … Continue reading →
