I want to synchronize ‘Users’ folders between Macs. Is it safe to do this or are there some files that shouldn’t be synchronized?

We don't recommend syncing entire 'Users' folders between Macs. There are many issues with system files and OS settings that need to be accounted for. Some people do this without any problems, but it is the type of thing an advanced user capable of solving system problems would undertake.

Our recommendations for keeping items in sync between Macs are discussed in many of our guides. Start by reviewing our Home Folder sync guide and see if this approach would work for you:

I see an option in Notifications that says “Push notification to ChronoMonitor with ID”. What is ChronoMonitor?

ChronoMonitor is an iPhone app that checks the availability and condition of ChronoAgents installed on a network. You can set it up to receive detailed push notifications from ChronoSync to keep tabs on scheduled syncs or backups.

ChronoMonitor for iOS is available for $3.99 on Apple’s App Store. It requires iOS v7 or later. ChronoSync v4.6 or later is required to receive push notifications.

I’m getting the error “Permission denied. Consider enabling 'Admin Access' (a 'Connect to:' option in the 'Setup' panel) for this target." How do I enable ‘Admin Access’?

Launch ChronoSync and open the affected Sync Document. On the Setup Panel, click on the 'Connect to:' popup in each Target and set the menu to ‘Mounted Volumes(Admin Access)'.

Mounted Volumes refers to your locally available drives connected to your Mac. This could be your startup volume, any external drives you have connected, thumb drives, or even network shares you have mounted. Most everything you have access to in Finder.

Mounted Volumes(Admin Access) adds elevated permissions to the above set of drives. What this means is during 'Admin Access', you can access any file or folder on your Mac or externally-connected drives.

Note that Admin Access is not supported on network shares, as the protocols don't allow this. If you need elevated access to another Mac, use ChronoAgent.
