I got a groupon for this restaurant and 3 other restaurants. This was the third groupon of the 4 I bought, and I had zero issues with the others. I am a fan of sushi and am always up for something new. Me and a friend went here with the intention of spending $10 each, because the groupon was for $25 but we needed to spend $37.50. So we went and ordered 4 rolls of sushi, 3 shrimp tempura, a "salad with special dressing", and a side of sushi rice. The total for those items was around $40. The waitress came to us 3 times and asked what our order was. Once our food arrived, I was disappointed with how loose the rolls were made, not what I would expect from a place that specializes in making sushi. But I ate what was set in front of me. The taste of the food was fine, and the only reason I would give this place 1 star. Next came time to pay the bill, and I handed the Spanish speaking waitress my groupon for $25. 5 minutes later she comes back and says that they don't accept this coupon because they have not been getting paid from groupon. Somehow this is my problem??? Seriously? So I tell her that my friend and I only came with enough money to cover the meal with the coupon, and she stares at me blankly. Filled with rage and anger, I hand her my credit card and tell her to take care of it. 10 minutes pass and I still don't have my card back. Then the sushi chef comes up to me and asks what we ordered!! So for the 4th time I tell them my order. The waitress returns and says she took $10 off for the inconvenience. I look at the receipt and they charged us for 2 sides of sushi rice!? So we left, never to return. And on our way out, I checked and there were no signs or anything posted saying they don't take groupons. One of the single most terrible dining experiences in my life. Please, do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Not worth $1, let alone $40 plus.

I had frequented Murasaki in the past. The food upon the time that they had started their business in Stillwater, MN was quite exceptional. It was a great location because it was the only Sushi bar in the area. In the past 2 years, the owners have proven to drive this restaurant straight downhill. My last experience there was a deal breaker for me. The food and service was the absolute worst I have had in any restaurant in Stillwater. I started out ordering some Spring Rolls, I love spring rolls and always look forward to them to start an asian meal. They came out after a half hour of being there. They were lethargic, watery and had no flavor, all the while falling apart on the plate. By this time I was wanting to leave, but I was hungry and had already ordered my Sushi. I ordered two specialty rolls and some Sashimi. My date sat with an empty glass of wine for more than 15 minutes, and our Spring roll plates had not been cleared. This was very disturbing and I really wanted to leave. It came real close to me getting up and walking out, but finally our rolls came and Nigiri. Nigiri? I ordered Sashimi... At this point I didn't care. The presentation was again terrible, and the rolls falling apart. I ate what was in front of me and presented a 15% off coupon. The waitress, who spoke very broken english, said she was already going to give us 15% off knowing that the service was terrible. Although when she ran my card, it was only 15% off.. For the Spring Rolls, Nigiri, 2 Sushi Rolls, Green Tea 1 glass of wine (my date ordered a second, that never arrived) With 15% off it came to $48.50. If I am going to pay top dollar for any food, the service, food, and atmosphere, better be phenomenal! Needless to say I will never go back to Murasaki or recommend it to anyone. My goal in writing this review is to direct Sushi lovers in the St. Croix Valley area to go elsewhere. Osaka is a pretty great place for the money, and for what it's worth I have also heard pretty good reviews from Shang Hai Bistro, but I have not experienced their sushi.

We were cautious about eating sushi at a restaurant in a strip mall, but we had heard great things from our friends. When we arrived, it took a couple of minutes before we were greeted. After we were seated, we ordered our food. I had the Murasaki roll, and my wife had a bento box. I've only been eating sushi for a few years, but the Murasaki roll really surprised me. It was one of the best sushi rolls I've had outside of the higher-end sushi restaurants in MN. Definitely worth a try if you like sushi!

Fourth time here, best experience yet. Raoul (sp) is a recent hire as a sushi chef, and wow did they make a find! We ordered one murasake roll, then ordered two "chefs choice"--letting Raoul make whatever he wanted for us. He created an amazing pair of rolls, and one included some fried soft shell crab--fantastic if you've never had it. Not sure why the previous reviewer wrote such a bad review, but the service was great, the sushi was better, overall a great experience. Raoul was only hired about six weeks ago, so maybe he should give them another try?

Took my girlfriend here for her birthday because the other resturant we wanted to go to wasnt open for labor day. Was Pleasently suprised. Not the best looking resturant but food quality was fantastic. Everything tasted fresh and clean and wait staff was very good too.

This is without a doubt my favorite place to go. My boyfriend agrees. While we only sit at the sushi side, we have loved our experience every time. We sit at the sushi bar and enjoy high quality sushi with sushi chefs with great personality. Over the past 3 years I have had their sushi, hot pots, tempura, and much more. My visiting family has loved the place as well.
