I bought a new printer finally, the last printer I had died ages ago and I never replaced it. After unboxing it, mounting ink cartriges and configuring the wifi I had nearby my macbook and my linux development laptop (with fedora 18 and latest and greatest gnome), the first thing I thought was to do the printing I had to do with the mac, but the printer cd was in the other room, since doing 20 steps was way too much wasted energy I decided to use the other laptop (which had the lid already open so even more energy saving!), my intention would have been to use the mac at the first issue found since I was in a hurry. So I fired up the control cent^WW System Settings(TM) opened the printer panel and clicked the bold add printer button. Boom the networked printer was found (I was already impressed), I choosed the printer in the dialog and BOOM, drivers automagically installed. Everything worked like a charm, totally impressive. For the first time installing a printer wasn't a pain, WOW. Then I fired up simple scan, the printer scanner was there and working. AWESOME. I don't think on the mac it would have been that smooth.
Thanks to all the devs involved in making this work so nicelly.
