I've climbed all around Boston and the friendly staff and good routes make this my favorite gym to climb at.

just went there for the first time, had a bad experience. To check my belay, the crew didn't allow me to pick my friend as partner. Instead to save his time, he stuck me with someone twice my weight. did not tell me to anchor myself down (I had to ask my friend to do that for me), and asked that person to fall multiple times because that person did not know how to do the "accidental fall". BTW this place don't do double back on the top rope, so if the person who's twice your weight fall, you will be dragged up! you might even collide in the air, it's a bit like lead belay in that sense. I told the crew that he should not force people with huge weight difference to climb together, he had an attitude and lectured on how good belay technique would allow people of different sizes to belay for each other. Really? you are doing a belay check for a indoor gym, and you want to in the mean time make people collide in the air? and potentially cause an injury? 0 out of 5 for Boston rock gym. I will stick with the other gyms I regularly go to. This place is cheap, in this case cheap means pretty bad quality.

This gym was tough! First one I've made it to so far. I might have had an easier time if I had started out with Squirtle but nooooooo.. Damn professor Oak forced me to take this damn Pikachu. Once you do win though you'll get this TM for "bind." I have a feeling I'll never use this tough. Good luck to you all!

Really needs a refurb. The padding on the floor is all old and crusty, a lot of the holds are polished down from use, etc. The TR and lead routes are short (low ceilings). I wasn't real impressed with the route setting either, some good but lots of blah routes, but the manager said they just replaced most of the route setters. Hopefully over time the new team will improve. But the space is pretty big, and I hear that the bouldering has some really good stuff, so it might be worthwhile to check out.

I've been going here since Feb. The staff is very accommodating, safe, by the book and friendly. I started climbing here for the first time and they never turned their nose up at me once. Met some good people here and I am a rrgular.

To the people that run Boston Rock Gym, if you are reading this, your gym is small and there's not enough to do especially when you're not with an adult licensed to hold the rope you wear on some of the walls you climb. I honestly think it should be more than just rock climbing, but rather include everything United Skates of America and Launch Trampoline Park does.

My first & favorite rock climbing gym in the area. Pros: walls with features like real rock outside, not too crowded, not overpriced (bkb, metrorock), $5 ladies night, friendly staff. Cons: some holds are a little too worn down, traffic on 95 is always terrible.
