Maybe my experience was unique, but our service was horrible. We just went in for a few drinks and small plates. Our waiter took our orders and never returned. Eventually the host saw that we were waiting and got us some drinks and then we were on our own again. No food arrived. Eventually we gave up on the food and asked for our check. They were nice enough to cover the drinks since we were not served, but it was quite frustrating since we were hungry.

Best burger I had in a long time. The fries were something special. Beer was good.

Zut is the kind of place that you go for a special occasion. We tried. The crispy fish are revolting. This is my fault -- I've had them here before and know this. I keep imagining properly prepared fried smelts, which I adore, and get confused and order them again. My wife enjoyed the beets and avocado in oil. Hard to go wrong there. My halibut was really overcooked -- why? The famous brussels sprouts were bitter and greasy -- that's just sloppy. The service was friendly, disorderly, and negligent. Drinks forgotten, peculiar people asking if we'd like something and then confused when we replied. Ignored for way too long, but the staff is chatting away and the place is half empty. I got thirsty and eventually had to walk over to the bar and ask for more water. It's hard to write this kind of stuff without sounding like a spoiled whiner, but easting at a place like Zut is very expensive. Easily over $100 for two (and only one of us drinks alcohol). The idea is that you pay this much, as I said at the start, for a special occasion, not for indigestion and frustration. Luckily the company was superb.

We had an amazing team outing here with tapas, flowing bar and open kitchen. The atmosphere can't be beat!

I stopped in last night after a "very bad day at the office" and went right to the bar. The bartender was friendly and gave me good direction on food choices, my rye manhattan helped my day out but the highlight was the halibut stew with clams. Light, very tasty with the braised fennel and peppers and perfectly done halibut. Yum. Two nice folks at the bar shared their positive comments on the food and wine ( tap pinot yes, barbera no ) to make for a very nice comforting evening. I left happy, content and well fed. Great job Zut!

Food was spectacular. The chicken and Brussels sprouts were some of the best I've ever had. The burger was great, but don't waste a trip to this great place on a burger. Service was awesome, as well.
