Gabe Zichermann, founder and CEO of Gamification Co., believes business success is driven by tools that excite rather than bore. By synthesizing the best ideas from gaming, loyalty programs and behavioral economics, Zichermann says employee engagement can reach new heights. "The best ideas often fail because they don't get buy-in and participation from the end user," he said during a Studio C conversation at GreenBiz Forum 2014.

Furnishing EVERY home in America with solar panels would cost less than the Iraq and Afghan wars combined, and would save taxpayers over $162b/yr

But then the U.S. would be improving people's lives instead of destroying them. We can't have that.

I'm liking those negative slopes.  Sure, there's an implicit lower bound asymptote somewhere, but if solar can punch through the fossil fuel band, then we're getting somewhere.  Hopefully Real Soon Now.

"4C would likely be catastrophic rather than simply dangerous," lead researcher Steven Sherwood told the Guardian. "For example, it would make life difficult, if not impossible, in much of the tropics, and would guarantee the eventual melting of the Greenland ice sheet and some of the Antarctic ice sheet."

...yes this is all true. And to add fuel to this fire, the areas of Southern Australia, South Africa, the American Southwest, and parts of the Mediterranean will likely suffer sharp loses in water supplies, enough to cause significant human migration from those areas.

here's another take on the news from the Sydney Morning Herald: http://www.smh.com.au/environment/climate-change/climate-change-planet-to-warm-by-4-degrees-by-2100-20131231-304nw.html

This may not come as a surprise, but a multi-billion-dollar network of climate change denial has been exposed by a new study just published in the journal Climatic Change. The study shows that creating a culture of climate denial in the US is a highly sophisticated political movement largely backed by industry and the super-rich.
