Sorry I missed seeing your post Sister Nickerson.  The pics are not of our home, they are of a decorating style that does work well in our old house.  Looking forward to seeing you two again when you get back this way, although we have taken up residence in Spokane, WA to be around daughter and grandchildren.

Sunrise over Mormon Row

Well, we arrived at Jackson Hole, WY late last night, got a few hours of shut eye, and made our way out to photograph sunrise at the historic barns on Mormon Row in Grand Tetons National Park. Given that this is my first time in the state of Wyoming, I couldn’t have asked for better weather conditions. We had just the right amount of cloud coverage to let the rising sun’s warm, peachy color reflect off of and afterwards, the sky filled up with these gorgeous, wispy clouds for some long exposure fun. I’m here as the guest instructor for The Digital Photo Workshops that kicks off tomorrow (http://www.thedigitalphotoworkshops.com/tetons/). The weather is looking awesome and I’m really excited to be joined by workshop leaders, +Randy Van Duinen and +Rob Sylvan, as well as my wife, +Nicole S. Young! Our attendees are certainly in for a treat this week!

As for this photo, I took it with my +Sony A7r and Sony A 70-400mm lens sitting on my +Really Right Stuff TVC-34L/BH-55 tripod. I was able to add some really nice contrast in the sky by also using my +Formatt-Hitech 105mm circular polarizer coupled with my 3-stop soft grad ND filter. I kicked off the stylization by applying a VSCO preset and then finished things up in Lightroom.
