Six teams of high school and college students spent 12 hours Friday thinking up and presenting their ideas for new businesses. The students’ charge was to come up with business ideas that could tap into Kansas City’s emerging future, the one with Google Fiber, the downtown streetcar and the Smart City initiative.
Digital Sandbox KC, which provides “proof-of-concept” funding to startup businesses, gained what it called an unprecedented second grant under a federal challenge. Matching money boosted the $500,000 grant to $1.15 million.
