Board Games  -

I've been watching Arcadia Quest for a while now, and almost bought it. However, lately, I've discovered (and bought) Krosmaster Arena a nice little Arena/Tactic game with wonderful prepaint minis.

Not too long ago, they released Krosmaster Quest, which seem to have mitigated review... however, both games (Arena & Quest) are compatible.

Now it might be Arcadia Quest vs Krosmaster Quest (keeping in mind that I have Arena).

Your toughts?

+Sylvain Lacroix ah that makes sense, but it's a bit disappointing. in AQ, the leveling up of the characters is from items that you gain at the end of each game of a campaign. you pull items from a deck of cards & then determine what to keep based on what you can afford (coins are gained during the game).

try AQ if you can before buying, it's really fun! sounds like a better dungeon crawler (imo) than KQ (but I do think that KA is a great tactical combat strategy game!).

Just started playing boardgames with my 4 year old daughter (she just turned 4). Our first "real" game : Animal upon Animal.

Not too long so she keeps her focus, and she loves it so far :D

Any other suggestions ?

We just picked up No Thank You, Evil! and it looks pretty great. Ours is a teeny bit young, just 4, but I think she could play the game in its very easiest mode (which does not require reading, just being able to identify numbers).

Wow. It's been a while since I came here. Need to update my pictures (I've been hanging on Instagram for too long, you can follow me @Sly_QC )

Glass Road and Viceroy have been two big hits to the table lately, mainly because my wife loves them :D

Another nice weekend, and trying that "new" game in my collection Claustrophobia. Awesome quality of the minis, not a lot of variety but totally understandable, since they are prepainted.

I have a 3 1/2 yo (the 1/2 is very important!) that's starting to love looking at "daddy's games". I've tried Candyland, but she gets tired after a few turns. What would you suggest? She loves to roll dice and play with the meeples.

I was thinking Animal upon Animal or something similar. What would you suggest ?

Animal upon Animal is fun for the whole family. My mom (in her 70's) had a blast playing it by herself one evening and we've used it with friends over wine once kids are asleep.)

My First Carcassonne / Kids' Carcassonne didn't catch on in this house until around 4.5 rather than 3.5 but The Daughter liked the pictures and meeples at 3.5.

Sneaky Snacky Squirrel was okay for about a month but she quickly outgrew it.

The Lady Bug Game was a huge hit in this house! And remains so even at 5yo.

We've had some fun games of Enchanted Forest but hacked the rules a bit for a shorter more coop game. Probably better for 4+.

While I'm not a huge fan, our daughter has enjoyed Disney's Enchanted Cupcake Game. I keep feeling like the rules need a hack so it has more strategy and is less purely random.

If you play Candyland make sure you use the "Rothfuss Method" (actually that is good thinking for a lot of games).

I strongly suggest Joomba!

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/119872/joomba

No text, just pictures on the cards and fun gestures  and sounds from the players. You'll have tons of fun yourself watching your daughter make the animal noises and gestures.

No dice or meeples though.

Shadowrun Crossfire is really a fun and tough solo game. With the proper soundtrack, the game experience is incredible.

+Shayne Covert It's not that bad. I must admit that I prefer Descent, but it provides a nice play experience.

It's been a while since I shared my boardgames pictures. Mini reviews :
- Cash and Guns 2nd is sooo hilarious
- Colt Express is chaotic and fun
- Vault Wars is a great bluffing game
- Magic : AoP is a good skirmish game

But my "coup de Coeur" goes to Viceroy. A great multiplayer solitaire optimization game. My wife loves it

Well, you can see on my picture.  That's my 6 person table. I could've probably squeezed the cards and token, but that can give you an idea.

Awesome game BTW

Another fun gaming weekend (and I'm a little late to post pictures), but the always fun Castle of Burgundy (and one of my wife's favorite), with Descent and Legendary Aliens...

Hey people of the community. I was wondering about my next games to buy, and decided to finally commit to try Mage Knight for solo-play only, and wanted to get your input on my "light" purchase.

The game is Black Fleet, a light-yet fun (as per reviews) pirate game. This game would be to play with my "casual" group, that loves titles like Jamaica, Stone Age, Steampunk Rally and Ticket to Ride.

Any comments on the game? Is it family-sized fun ? Rules looks simple, but is it only fun for a few games? Please advise. Thanks.

Jamaica has fantastic artwork but the game was just OK. Stone Age is very good worker placement with dice. I would say it had the same weight as Lords of Water deep. For Ticket to ride, I would suggest the Europe map to start the US still has small cards.
