Hello Admin(s): this site is 100% free and free-access (no sign-up, no login), and it's simply quite useful for teachers and students.

I have taught English for 41 years in a private school and I have always been surprised by the student's problems with the alphabet and being unable to spell. Even some advanced students who could speak quite well otherwise, stumbled upon the difference between 'i' and 'e' or 'g' and 'j'.

That's why there is so much spelling throughout Real English®, and not only in lesson 3, which features the ALPHABET and SPELLING.

After practicing all the basic alphabet sounds, the student arrives here to test what he might have learned! If you get it wrong on your FIRST try, the EXERCISE TRANSFORMS ITSELF into a Multiple Choice exercise!
Can you get it right on your first attempt?

My name is Mike and I've been working on Real English for 25 years and it's finally ready for prime time. I'm from New York but I live in France where I created a language school in 1976.

I hope you don't mind me posting here. I want to tell you about this learning which is 100% FREE. All the video in Real English is spontaneous, without actors.

I just spent a full year making the site compatible with MOBILE devices, updated the content, and now I must do the only job that I DON'T like: promoting it so that all my work will not have been in vain.

In THIS Lesson we ask the famous question "What do you do?"
https://www.real-english.com/reo/24/24-2.htm

After learning what THEY DO, the interviewer asks "What are you DOING?" while Paul puts on Caroline's helmet. We have a perfectly spontaneous contrast of the two present tenses.

In addition to the VIDEO, we also have a "teacher AUDIO" button summarizing what they do / what they are doing, as well as PICTURES emphasizing 'do' vs 'doing'. Almost all the exercises combine these 3 media.

Have a look: https://www.real-english.com/reo/24/24-2.htm
