Anytime I tell people I love going to Manhattan, they say "isn't it expensive?" My reply is "Not if you don't buy anything." My girlfriend and I love the city. We sit in Washington Square Park or Union Square or Madison Square Park, we'll go to the Strand and check out their books, and we often stop at Gray's Papaya for lunch. A couple dogs, some fries, and some juice only sets me back a few bones, but fills us up with some delicious food. Love this place.

recession special! :) 2 dogs and a drink. good value for good food. OK it is not frankfurter sausage you get in Germany/Austria or some eastern Europe countries.. but it is very good. and it is a MUST when you are in NY. I would only suggest them to offer plain orange juice in this special.. not only those mango-coconut-avocado-penguin-see weed mix..

best hotdogs in NYC, prices went up but *part of what they were known for* it's still a great place. it seems as if they under repairs which might be a good thing since it's always so cramped & packed full of people.

i remember when the "recession special" 2 dogs loaded and a small drink for...well i started going there when it was $1.25..when near the park on west side or on way to the Beacon Theater to see a show, this is a staple of food for me..great natural casing dogs with a smooth flavor/ spice profile...not too garlicy..won't be tasting them for the next 2 a great quick inexpensive snack? get the special, get the dogs loaded, mustard, kraut. and onions in sauce and wash it down with a papaya drink or pina colada and trust me your gonna be happy you did....

THE BEST Old fashioned natural casing beef frankfurter, kosher style, same as Nathan's and Katz' but thinner. Same, exactly, as Papaya King. Best price deal in town. Went with 15 year old grandson and we had 6 hot dogs for a snack and a Coconut champagne drink.......all for less than $20. It's a machaya (that's a good thing). Returned with 12 year old grandson who is a hot dog expert. We started at Walter's in Mamaroneck then here then to Papaya King. He prefers Papaya King on east 86th Street. I prefer here. BOTH EXCELLENT. I make a detour whenever I'm vaguely in the neighborhood

Best hot dogs in the city, HANDS DOWN. Forget about the water dogs they sell in the city, these grilled dogs are LEGIT! Add a papaya or other juice and your appetite is set!!! Only setback is no real space to eat when there is a meal rush.
