Orange County Fox Trapping and Removal

Although foxes are common in the northeast, it's not often that we get called in to trap them. This beautiful fox was coming out of the woods and hanging out on a back porch, where the homeowner's small dog was often fed, and allowed to play. The fox had been approaching in order to steal food, but became a danger when it started acting aggressively. With the proper trap in place and it's favorite kibble used as bait, we successfully trapped it on our first day.

If local wildlife are coming to your property to feed on pet food, you should seriously consider removing the food as soon as your pet has been fed. The less reasons you can give wildlife to approach your house, the better off you'll be.

If you need assistance trapping and removing wild animals from your property, call TriState Wildlife Today! (845) 796-9986

Orange County Raccoon Removal - 10924

In over 80% of cases involving raccoons in the attic, we find a female raccoon that's either pregnant, or has recently given birth to a litter of pups. Attics make perfect nesting spaces, because they're protected from the elements and predators, and provide all the warm nesting material a raccoon could hope for. Aside from the risk of human contact, the biggest issue is the hazardous damage created by nesting raccoons. From destroyed insulation and chewed electrical wires, to the potential spreading of serious disease through urine and feces, raccoons are bad news.

As a homeowner, you certainly don't want to let a raccoon infestation go unattended. Raccoon trapping programs, coupled with damage repair and prevention techniques, is the most effective way of ridding your attic of raccoons. Just be sure that whoever traps the raccoons also does a thorough search for the babies inside. These adorable creatures are often hidden away and completely helpless without their mother!

If you've been hearing noises in the attic, Call TriState Wildlife Today!

Squirrels in the Attic - Squirrel Removal and Repair

Squirrels have incredibly sharp teeth that they use chew on everything! These determined squirrels chewed straight through shingles, plywood roofing and fascia boards. Once inside, they continued to chew on everything, destroying the insulation and family heirlooms.

When you're dealing with aggressive squirrels, the only solution is a thorough trapping and relocation program. Once all of the offending squirrels have been transported far away, the damage can be repaired and preventative animal proofing can be carried out.

Don't let squirrels destroy your home! Call TriState Wildlife to schedule an appointment today! Goshen, NY Office: (845) 796-9986

Squirrels in the Attic - Orange County Squirrel Trapping

We responded to a call about 'loud scurrying' noises in an attic. The noises were only heard during the day and didn't sound heavy footed, which almost certainly meant the owner had grey squirrels.
Our inspection of the house resulted in the discovery of a singular entry point. It was hidden above a downspout, where squirrels had chewed directly through the soffit.

We built a special platform onsite, so that we could attach our live traps to the side of the house. The following day, we trapped the two squirrels living inside the attic and sealed the squirrel hole with reinforced white metal sheeting. Even the biggest squirrel with razor sharp teeth wouldn't stand a chance of chewing through that!

Orange County Raccoon Trapping and Removal

This house was undergoing construction, when a pregnant female raccoon moved in to have her babies. Once inside, the raccoon began tearing up anything she could use for nesting and defecating all over. The owners noticed the damage, but weren't sure of the source until they encountered the angry mother raccoon in person. They did the right thing back quickly backing away and calling us for help.

Emergency Bat Removal in Orange County, NY

The biggest danger with a bat infestation (aside from the more long term health risks) is that there's a greatly increased risk of a bat making it's way into the living space of the home. A bat may manage to crawl down through venting or framing, but it most likely will fly in through an open door or window while feeding at night. Most people don't realize there's a bat in the house, until it wakes them up in the middle of the night.

These pictures are from our most recent emergency bat removal call in Orange County, NY. We got the call around 2AM, when the home owner found a bat flying around their master bedroom. We managed to catch the bat by hand in the bathroom an hour later. A quick inspection of the attic revealed a large and active bat infestation. The next step will be to evict the bats from the attic and bat proof the house so that they can't get back inside.

If you have Bats in the Attic, or are in the middle of a Bat Emergency, call us at (845) 796-9986

Orange County Squirrel Removal

Have you been hearing noises in the attic? You may have squirrels nesting above your ceiling.

Here's one of our most recent squirrels removals in Orange County, NY. A home owner in Blooming Grove called because they heard scratching noises coming from their attic. During our inspection we found evidence of an ongoing squirrel infestation, including dropping, shredded insulation and destroyed storage papers. Before leaving the attic, we even snapped a picture of one of the offending squirrels. During our 3 day squirrel trapping program, we caught 6 squirrels in total. After sealing up the entry holes and cleaning up the squirrel mess in the attic, we called this project a success!

Skunk Trapping and Removal in Orange County, NY

We got a call from Monroe, NY, from a homeowner who'd just discovered a large family of skunks living under his shed. Unfortunately he found out the hard way that baby skunks can't control their spray, and momma skunks don't like humans near their young. Over the phone, we gave him our family's home remedy for a skunk spray (found below) and headed over to see what we could do to help.

When we arrived, we realized that there was no good way to trap the skunks from the outside, so instead we decided to cut through the floor and remove them by hand. The mother skunk was the trickiest, since she was big and unhappy to see us. Through quick and fearless work, Kris was able to funnel her into a trap without getting sprayed. Unfortunately, he wasn't so lucky on that front while removing the babies by hand.

One adult skunk, eight baby skunks, and three direct spray's later, the shed was cleared of all its inhabitants. After replacing the floorboards and sealing around the outside, we're confident that the shed will remain skunk free long into the future.

TriState Wildlife's Skunk Spray Remedy...
If you or your pet get sprayed by a skunk, immediately make a paste from:
1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide
¼ cup of baking soda
1–2 teaspoons of liquid dish soap

Wash the affected area, keeping the solution away from your mouth, nose and eyes. This will dramatically reduce the odor, although, you may still hate skunks for a good long time after!
