Thanks for the highlights +Daniel Lew!
I've just finished reading through the wonderful new Android Design site Google just released. A lot of the information is stuff you should already know if you're an Android developer. However, I took notes of pages/information that I found particularly interesting (or new for ICS). Listed in order of appearance on the site: 48dp Rhythm - Like me, you may have implicitly noticed this pattern before, but it's good to see it stated so explicitly. (...

Huh, I didn't know that this is egg foo young. I guess I've never had it... I thought it was a soupy eggy translucent mixture over rice.

i don't think i've ever had egg foo young either. i'd much rather have the eggy soupy mixture over rice. it's called 滑蛋___饭. where the blank is whatever meat or other stuff is in it. usually it's beef and called 滑蛋牛肉饭. for those who prefer pin yin, it's "hua dan niu rou fan" and here is an example image: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3602/3398207191_1c9d816928.jpg

bathroom in the apartment is still paper dependent. Love the toto system at work though! Thinking back to the time when I peer pressured you into having your own hook/towel combo at work :D Need to get my hand towel re-installed.

Missing "Surprise, surprise, Twitter is failwhaling again". And references to "winning". I dunno. This one just isn't terribly comprehensive.

An interesting post on organizations like Ladies Learning Code:

http://www.torontostandard.com/business/when-she-codes-the-revolutions-coming/

It touches on a lot of issues people generally avoid. Is it a feminist thing? And if it seems like everyone involved cares about equal opportunities, why is everyone hesitant to say they are feminist? Why is the name of the program exclusive--what about the men who want to learn how to code?

And a refreshingly civil discussion on HackerNews about the article:

http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3496943

And the obligatory I-don't-even-understand-why-this-is-a-problem comment:

"The barrier to entry in this field is low. Github, for example, doesn't ask you to check a box with your sex when you open an account."
Is Ladies Learning Code awesome and feminist, or just awesome?

Yeah I agree with that. I guess Ladies Learning Code is more catchy and more popular than Beginners Learning Code. They do seem to attract a good number of people to events, so I guess it works. I would imagine a class targeting true beginners and a class targeting women attract different crowds, even within the female population--I would have been really unlikely to attend all-female classes. However, I did consider attending Wellesley, and the thought that it would be a supportive place to learn CS crossed my mind a few times...
