Food was mediocre for $27 a plate. Got the seafood pasta. Shrimp were overcooked, clams were canned, and the sauce was overly salty and simple. Waiters were nice but had fake Italian accents and cheap suits. A fairly pretentious place with faux gourmet food.

one of those neighborhood gems. the only knock on this primo southern italian eatery is that its aging clientele is rapidly and naturally deselecting itself. although i do see younger people giving it a try and i still fit that category. the veal is superb, as are the steaks and pastas. have a brown squirrel for dessert.

i fly from san francisco to st. louis whenever i can to enjoy the classic ambiance and delicious dishes created by the mineo family, some of the lesser gods of the st. louis italian gourmet scene.

classic italian in town and country--the fact we can walk and enjoy the new patio makes us feel like we're european when we enjoy a summer meal there. some of the dishes are a bit heavy and old, but the menu seems to be getting more modern. pass on the calamari.
