I am only disappointed that I lived in Austin a year before trying this place! Great atmosphere - inside and out. Live music often inside. They have a stellar brunch with drink specials. Their food is ridiculously good and the beer menu is hard to beat. They also have a grocery section with beers and wine to go. I wish I lived closer - no negative things to say.

This aint ya mammie's gas station. Its a Back to the Future meets Indiana Jones type atmosphere - inexplicably packed on a Friday night with weary travelers, paper-reading locals, and perfect people-watching-worthy first dates. Here's why: Beer and wine selection is vastly abundant, like a library has shelves for books, Whip In has refrigerated shelves for liquid books. Amazing. You can buy and consume anything they have for sale on premises, though they may ask you kindly buy all 6 cans first. Patio is fantastic. We had the samosas, which came out REALLY hot, violent with authentic Indian flavor - which we washed down promptly with some local craft selections (512 IPA, Pecan Porter, etc). Live music from an eclectic variety of artists keeps the crowd rotating around. Go. Now.

I was not impressed by this restaruant in the least. To me this just seemed like another hipster joint, to be avoided at all costs. Definitely will not be returning to this location. Food was not good, music was horrible, staff was rather rude, and drink selection is very limited.

Delicious! The dal sliders and the Travis Heights panaanis were perfection. Amazing vegan slaw, and spicy crispy fries to top it off! Plus more great beers than i could try in one sitting. Service could of been better, there were more people behind the bar than sitting at it, and I still felt invisible. Next time I'll order drinks at the counter where you order food, it's faster than sitting at the bar.

This place has a great ambiance and huge selection of beer and wines. They have a nice Indian fusion menu as well. We got their hummus, elegant stoner snack and nachos. All delicious! They have a swanky interior that is very comfortable and good for groups. Wish I still worked near it like I used to. They often have shows at night too and have a small stage in one corner of their interior.

The music is always great, and the location is separated from the usual hotspots so you can make it a one stop night. However, the unexpected bonus is how good the food and beer is! Every Austinite should go here at least once. Or 5 times. The patio has music as well as the inside. Patio is more rock and outside is more avant garde or cafe music.

Whip-In is a solid go-to for me as I live in the area and its a great local spot. They have a tremendous beer selection, and while i'm really not a beer guy at all, the knowledgeable and courteous staff here have taken the time to show me some beers that I just love (2 Jokers FTW!). The food here is OK, its inoffensive indian food that will fill you up at a reasonable price. Beer + Wine selection here is stellar and again, the staff here know their stuff. There is generally a live band or something creative happening (spoken word,etc.). Recommend for a nice cozy drinks date, catching up with friends, quick beer on the way home!

I love Whip In! Always awesome music and tasty food. I'd get the whip-in-dianized nachos which are crazy spicy and the panaanini stuffed with samosa filling. They have a beer/brewer of the month that's usually super cheap pints, or daily drink specials. Try their house brews, too! It's also a great spot to pick up a special beer or wine and take it home- their selection is so good.
