Surprised! Is my first thoughts. From the outside, it doesn't look like much and may prevent anyone from going inside. But trust me, it is must, you need to stop by and check it out. It is a hidden treasure. They have many different types of beers on tap including wines. The Whip in, always seem to find good live bands to play. This place is very cool, hidden gem !

I am only disappointed that I lived in Austin a year before trying this place! Great atmosphere - inside and out. Live music often inside. They have a stellar brunch with drink specials. Their food is ridiculously good and the beer menu is hard to beat. They also have a grocery section with beers and wine to go. I wish I lived closer - no negative things to say.

This aint ya mammie's gas station. Its a Back to the Future meets Indiana Jones type atmosphere - inexplicably packed on a Friday night with weary travelers, paper-reading locals, and perfect people-watching-worthy first dates. Here's why: Beer and wine selection is vastly abundant, like a library has shelves for books, Whip In has refrigerated shelves for liquid books. Amazing. You can buy and consume anything they have for sale on premises, though they may ask you kindly buy all 6 cans first. Patio is fantastic. We had the samosas, which came out REALLY hot, violent with authentic Indian flavor - which we washed down promptly with some local craft selections (512 IPA, Pecan Porter, etc). Live music from an eclectic variety of artists keeps the crowd rotating around. Go. Now.

This place has a great ambiance and huge selection of beer and wines. They have a nice Indian fusion menu as well. We got their hummus, elegant stoner snack and nachos. All delicious! They have a swanky interior that is very comfortable and good for groups. Wish I still worked near it like I used to. They often have shows at night too and have a small stage in one corner of their interior.

Decent food and beer selection - once you can actually get in an order. The place touts food and beer from 10 am to 2 am, but we were informed rather rudely that the kitchen was closing at 3 pm - when we went in to place a second order - and our kids almost went hungry. Service was slow and one of the staff members was positively rude, doubt I will come back again.

I absolutely LOVE this place. Whenever I have people come to visit from out-of-town, I always make sure to make this one of the stops on the list. It defines what I see as "Austin." It joins together the true culture that Austin brings to the table, and really does live up to its genre of "wacky convenience store." There's live music, and outdoor patio area, indoor and outdoor bar, excellent wine and beer selection (for sale and at the bar), and really unique Indian-meets-TexMex food items. I can't really name one thing to try here, because everything I've had has been really good in its own manner. It's a great place to hang out with friends or simply wind-down after a long day. If you want "Austin-y" then this is one place that needs to be added to your bucket list, stat.

The music is always great, and the location is separated from the usual hotspots so you can make it a one stop night. However, the unexpected bonus is how good the food and beer is! Every Austinite should go here at least once. Or 5 times. The patio has music as well as the inside. Patio is more rock and outside is more avant garde or cafe music.

Love this place! I'm sad we don't live South anymore simply because it was so easy to go here. They have an outstanding tap selection and great specials. They have a good bottled selection to go as well. Try the sandwiches! I haven't been disappointed yet. I always look forward to meeting the guys here for beers and good company in a laid-back atmosphere.
