Good question Sam, I'm not exactly sure. That would be nice for Google to add that though...

Volume 7 is loaded with Super Stickman, and danger. The Cartoon Mob Syndicate makes a move on Rick and he's forced into an alternate reality - OURS! There's a lot that goes on in this volume which concluded at the end of 2010.

This was a time when my wife was pregnant with our second child and of course, I took a break when the baby came. One thing I am proud of with the development of this comic is that it is extremely rare when I take up any family time to work on the strip. It's usually at night when everyone has gone to bed or my lunch hour at work. Despite my lack of sleep most nights, I think the comic continues to grow and that makes me happy.

In Rick the Stick Volume 5, Milton gets a girlfriend, Rick finds himself in real danger, we get a glimpse into the corruption in the City of Murphywood, and Rick goes a little overboard for Santa...

I really started to like where the comic was going with the overall story arc and the mini arcs weaving in and out of each other. I was having fun drawing comic and my style started to emerge. It's the Santa storyline where the characters started to lose the bubble face look...

In Volume 3, Rick is put through the ringers. He's in danger, loses control in the doctor's office, goes on a re-date with his dream girl, and much more...

The writing is still a little raw as I'm trying to thread in an overall story arc with mini two to three week stories. I also dabbled a little in color.

I forgot how much Rick evolved during this period. That is one of the coolest things is to see how your style changed so much. You started spoiling us with color too. Oh Joy and her trickery, well at least she got a Wii out of it. :)

Rick the Stick - the first one hundred comics. This was the launch of the comic - it all starts here. Rick is a Stickman living in a Cartoon world. In the first 100 comics, he discovers he's inherited a lot of money - and a caveman. He also learns that living and loving aren't easy...

The drawing style was raw, but it was the first one hundred and we're a long way from that now...

In Volume 9 it's all color, all the time! Dan the Stickman gets tied up with the Cartoon Mob Syndicate and really resents the fact that he's not the only stickman in town. Rick gets a job and makes a splash on the fashion scene, has problems with airline security, gets arrested for driving without a license and so much more it's...well...it's just silly!

This is what I'd consider my best work. I have some days where the coloring makes me smile, the writing is much tighter and the characters are coming to life. Making this comic is something that I never want to give up.

Volume 8 premiered the relaunch of the website, with character profiles and concluded with five weeks of color comics. In between there were loads of double comic days with 'The Office' style interviews, Dan the Stickman appears as a major antagonist of Rick's, Rick and Milton get kicked out of the Manners, house and we learn about the tragic demise of the Tidy-bowl Man.

2011 has been a really fun year. I have worked really hard and I think the comic has come a long way. I broke from the major story arc a little bit to focus more on character development. The exploration into color doubled the workload which wasn't easy with an infant in the house, but I think things have worked out well.

These profile pages are still my favorites. I actually printed them out, I just never put them together; I need to remedy that.

In Volume 6, Super Stickman plays a big role in Rick's life, he gets a girlfriend, Winchester the Caveman saves his butt and a whole lot more.

I am proud of how the comic is evolving at this point, I'm experimenting with my art style, but more importantly the writing.

Wow. A lot happens in Volume 4. Rick inadvertently saves the day, is hunted by an evil corporation for his inheritance, turns into Super Stickman and much, much more!

This is where I really started to experiment with some backgrounds and angles. The look of the comic is starting to evolve and the writing is a little better - more cohesive.

In the second set of comics, Rick discovers family life, that his inherited caveman may not be who he says he is and the love of his life. That's a lot for a stickman to take in!!

The drawing style starts to evolve a little in Volume 2 and I start to introduce speech bubbles. I originally didn't like the thought of using speech bubbles because I thought it took up too much real estate. Eventually my thoughts would turn - did I succumb to the dark side? Are these the bubbles I was looking for??

A Comic About a Stickman Living in a Cartoon World
Introduction
Rick the Stick is a comic about a stickman living in an ordinary cartoon world.

Reasons you should CIRCLE Rick:
  • He's the last descendant of the original stickman
  • Rick inherited 150 million dollars from all the royalties he gets every time someone draws a stickman
  • Rick's parents were killed in a "drive-by erasing"
  • There is an evil corporation out to get Rick's money: the Cartoon Mob Syndicate
  • The quickest way to Rick's heart is through tater tots - no one is really sure where his heart actually is.
Rick the Stick is published on the web every weekday with over 900 comics in the archives.

Volume 8: 100 Comics - Beginning of 2011
