Dear St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic School Community,

Today I am announcing that I have named Mrs. Jennifer Malone as Interim Principal for the 2014-2015 academic year. Mrs. Malone has graciously accepted the appointment and will officially begin her duties July 1, 2014.

Jenny is a dedicated and very competent educator, having served as a middle school teacher at St. Ignatius Martyr for the past 10 years. Before that she was the Assistant Principal at Sunset Valley Elementary School in Austin. Here at St. Ignatius Martyr Jenny has been a mentor teacher for several of our ACE teachers as well as a role model for all of the newer teachers and faculty. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Bilingual-Bicultural Teacher Education from St. Edward’s University. She and her husband Brian were married at St. Ignatius Martyr, and their children have attended or are currently attending our school.

Prior to the announcement of the departure of our current principal, Todd Blahnik, plans were being made to have Mrs. Malone serve as an assistant to the principal, so this decision was an easy one to make. Mrs. Genevieve Dike will be staying on through at least half of the year to assist Jenny in her new leadership role. Dr. Ned Vanders, Superintendent of the Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Austin, concurs with this decision and expressed his gratitude both to Todd and Jenny as well.

Shortly after the new academic year begins we will initiate a principal search in conjunction with the Diocese of Austin Catholic Schools Office. We are confident that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide our efforts to find the most qualified and faith-filled people to serve as leaders of our school.

Mrs. Malone will succeed Mr. Todd Blahnik, who will become Director of Catholic Educational Services at a St. Francis Xavier Catholic School System in Appleton, Wisconsin. Both our parish and the Diocese of Austin are appreciative to Mr. Blahnik for his nine years of service to the St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic community, and we pray that God bless him and his family in their new endeavors.

Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Jennifer Malone as our Interim Principal.

Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Bill Wack, CSC
Pastor
